Dirty Helmet Straps

Well, I don't jump in the shower with the helmet as some of the gals here do...

But we do rinse the straps reasonably regularly (well, to be honest, when we are prompted by the whiteness or stiffness of the straps )

A small nail brush is useful with getting into the crinkles... (good idea with the toof-brush Margo, probably easier than the nail brush!)

Margo... why not wet the helmet? It gets wet when it rains...
Or do you mean to not wet it with the soapy sudsy washing water?

And yip. Like Regina, hang up in usual place in shed... drip dry...

Whistling on a boat is actually a fairly practical superstition. If you are whistling on a boat, the crew might mistake your whistle for the bosun's whistled commands.

Actually, I was thinking of the superstition that whistling on a boat blows up a gale, and therefore washing/wetting your helmet would bring rain to your ride....

I stick mine in the bathtub & wash the whole thing under the faucet any time the straps start to get crispy. I usually do it right before a ride so that everything is cool & damp when I venture out ionto the 90+ temps
