I lost my mother last year, my thoughts are with you. She was lucky to have you, and it reflects on what a wonderful mother she must have been to raise such a loving daughter.

Your story about your mum was delightful and how fortunate to have someone you adore and admire in your life

I believe strongly that if grown children come back to parents because they want to, not because they have to, then the parents must have done a great job

And from your story... that is what your mum did, a great job... you chose to spend your spare time with her, and although her loss will be acute the memories your share with your family (and us) will ensure she is never gone

    Thoughts and prayers your way
Maybe you could post a story or two about her - not from the last while of illness and courageous struggle, maybe even before you were born. Just some little thing that is not big but special . I like those stories, they make me feel connected to the people and also show how life is made up of millions of little things, not politics and history. If you follow my drift...

    Ruth,

Having gone through a similar trial, I can truly say that I understand how you feel. My heart goes out to you and your family. You always know it's going to be hard when it happens, but you never really know how hard.

When my father passed away, a lot of people told me they were sorry for my loss. I appreciated all of their kind words. Eventually I started to see things differently and I becam thankful for every moment, every interaction I'd had with my Dad. I became thankful for my grief because it was a sign of how strong our bond was. How much sadder would it be to not feel grief for a parent because you had not experienced that deep love.

Take care of yourself. Process things as you need to. Love your family and friends, they will help you heal.

    Ruth,

I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom's passing. I loved reading your story about her on the other thread. She sounded like a real fun, fiesty lady who lived life to the fullest. What Wahine said above about grieving a parent is so very true. I know you are very thankful to have had the bond you did with your mom, and no one can take that away from you.

    Ruth,
I am so sorry to read of your mother's passing. From what I read from your other post she sounds as though she left you with a lot of fond memories. She sounds like a woman I would have greatly admired. You and your family are in my prayers.
