    I had BUTTERFLIES today!!!
It was such a strange thing that happened that I got the chills.
I was out running and MAN was it hot. My noggin was frying and I was trying to drag myself to finish at least 5 miles. Right around 4 miles I started thinking about a friend who was diagnosed a few years ago with MS. He was such an active person and always used to run. Now he's got a walker and always asks wistfully how my running is going. I know he misses it badly. So I thought to myself " Yeah you may be HOT, but at least god has given you this gift of running. You can run, Randy cannot. Don't take this gift for granted" and that kind of got me going. And then around 4.5 miles I really started to fade, I was going uphill and the sun was beating on me and I just wanted to stop. Suddenly out of nowhere a butterfly flew up to me. At first it startled me as I thought it was one of those nasty tarantula hawks, but then I saw it was a pretty butterfly. Usually they just fly on, but this one stayed with me. It flew to my side and would surge forward and then come back for me. And then I realized that it was no ordinary butterfly! It was one of LBTC's "butterflies" and it was there to give me strength to carry on. I got the chills! It was very cool and freaky all at the same time. It stayed with me to the end. I actually started talking to it. Yeah I know- I'm a FREAK! My son tells me that all the time...
But when I finished I thanked the little butterfly and told her she could go encourage another struggling runner, because in this heat I know there are plenty out there!!
I walked my short bit home with a warm feeling- and not from the sun- because I felt like I had a little angel helping me up that last hill. Maybe it was Randy sending me running vibes? Who knows, but it was cool!!

    whoa!

that's cool. when you said you had chills, I was thinking heat exhaustion!

We feel the same way when a hawk or bald eagle decides to cross our path while we are riding. it's an awesome feeling.

RM - that is the coolest story! Thank you so much!

Yes, I talk to every butterfly that comes near me, too. Are we both Freaks? heehee

So glad you kept running! Yay, RM!!

Wow, that is cool!!! I love butterflies and in this TX heat they don't stick around long after the wildflowers all die off.

I wish we had more of those big beautiful ones.

Good job finishing your run and maybe the butterfly will come back and help you the next time too. To bad you didn't have your camera to take a picture of it. I have to remember to start carrying mine so I can catch things that may come along like that.

Thanks all. Yeah I thought it was VERY cool! Esp. how it kept coming back to me. It was flying to my right side and it almost seemed like it was trying to get my attention. She was a beautiful butterfly. Hopefully she comes back tomorrow when I'm running. Or maybe she'll send a friend.
