You are gonna do great. You have a base, just race smart, good transitions and whatnot. Practice that stuff before race day. It made a huge difference for me.

My next one is coming up on the 24th!

What everyone else said Kimmy. You have a good base and won't lose much by training a little less. Enjoy your engagement!! That comes once in a lifetime (hopefully!!), tris come along every other weekend.

Practice your transitions like RnR said and get out in the open water.

    Have fun!!

As for goals, I'd like to:

    1) Beat The Boy (a definite in the swim, but may be compromised in the bike/run as he has been known to be uber-competitive and I'll admit is a tad bit stronger than me, at least in the cycle)
    2) Beat all or most of my climbing buddies who are racing this with me (in particular one gal I get a bit competitive with, I am a better cyclist than her but the swim and run may be dicey)
    3) Run the 5K portion in less than 30 minutes.

No overall time goal though, and I'm in a younger age group so I think my likelihood of placing at all is exceedingly low, especially because I'm a new runner and a marginally new cyclist.

    Kimmy,
You will be surprised as to what you can pull of your..er...um...sleeve, on race day.

I pre-rode my xterra course three times prior to race day, fastest time was 1:27. I raced it in 1:15...where did that come from....my race day...er...um..sleeve!

KICK THEIR BUTTS!!!!!!!!!!! oh in a nice way naturally....

Kimmy, in a short race transitions mean a lot and if you're racing with other inexperienced triathletes that's your best bet for really gaining some time on them.

Someplace I posted my transtion practice routine on this forum, I'm going to try to find the link.

Do the routine and if you're serious about beating your buddies, don't share it. Sounds mean but...

    Found it:
