Ok, I'm going to give this a try. Do you count your indoor trainer miles or outdoor miles only. I'm not sure I have enough discipline to keep track of miles, but I'll try and turn a new leaf. CorsairMac, when we go out you might have to remind me to keep track of miles.
Also, do you all set monthly goals like Veronica? Does it keep you motivated?
Enjoy!
Good going, snowtulip. I think you can log whatever type mile you have. Just go there and poke around, I think there is a way to differentiate. You realize, of course, that my total lifetime indoor trainer miles are probably under 10, so I'm not much help there.
As for motivation, just watching my relative rank on BJ is enough to keep me logging the miles. I'm trying to stay above #1000, but that might get tough once the weather warms up and I wilt while everyone else is riding centuries.![]()
Goals? Yep. Weekly, monthly, yearly, all that. Most are confidential, though. I like breaking the ceiling of goals, so I set a bunch for myself.

I'm certainly counting indoor miles although I think purists don't. This fall I'm going to try to ride later in the season but there are daylight/safety concerns for the daily commute that the mommy in me just balks at. I set goals, especially indoors, because it's so boring and I need the cardio work. I just try to enjoy when I'm riding outdoors and it seems like my mileage is always higher (than indoors) each week because I'm having fun! Trying to keep my OCD tendencies under control!![]()
As several of the BJ threads have discussed - you can track whatever miles you want. Indoor, outdoor, both, tri!......it's a personal journal so You decide how to track it. I set an annual goal and then worked out how many miles a week I needed to fulfill that goal. Since I am now Woefully behind that, I will have No problem reminding you to track miles coz I"m gonna take all the miles I can get!!.......(trying to figure out the perfect bribe to maybe get some of V's miles!!)Originally Posted by snowtulip
