Today was a dream! Started by riding my bike to work - 60 degrees, a little breezy but not bad. It's a little over four miles mostly on neighborhood streets and through a park by the river, and the last half mile or so is near downtown but still not too bad.

When I came home it was in the mid 70's with practically no wind. I was due for 2 miles of tempo running this evening - plus some warm-up and cool-down jogs - what the heck, go for a brick! After getting home and quickly parking the bike in the garage/dropping my backpack, I headed off for a 2-mile run. At the end of the first mile, after my quads had stopped making their presence quite so obvious - ten minutes! I've been in the 11-minute mile range forever. I walked a couple of times on the way back 'cause I was feeling a little dehydrated - didn't take a bottle on the bike for such a short ride, and should've gotten a quick drink between the ride and run.

It was kind of funny running in my baggy jean shorts and t-shirt and untied flailing hair. I must have looked like some kind of maniac because people were staring at me like "Are you o.k.?" Cars didn't crowd me while I was running, either.

Anyway, my first brick felt great. Love that endorphin-induced euphoria!
