Join the club! I went for my second trail run this evening, I was intending to do a little more than last Friday's 4.5 miles, aiming for 6. I had my trail shoes on ( the low profile heel was so much more confidence inspiring though the relative lack of cushioning showed a few times) so no footpod to tell me how fast I was going and no Ipod either. Decided to approach the hills based on effort rather than pace and this seemed to work, felt much better running than last week so decided just to explore a bit. Ended up being out a lot longer than I originally thought but I just had the most fantastic run, beautiful evening, generally easy conditions underfoot if a little hard and rocky sometimes. When I got home I measured my route on the map: 10.3 miles with 1400ft of ascent!!!!! Chuffed, its not massive amounts of ascent by Yellow's standard but its 1400ft more than I would normally do in a run![]()
More to the point its 1400ft of descending, some I would almost describe as "technical" as I had to pick a line to run. I'm so going to pay for it tomorrow. Time was 1:40 but I think I lost a few minutes with watch faff but I don't care its probably my most enjoyable run to date and second longest to boot.
