Equus, are you racing the Cat 4 or Open?
Thanks, Sarah. I really enjoy racing with Betty. She's so motivating and positive...while ripping your legs off.
LMAO! Yep...that just about sums it up!![]()

Betty cracks me up. She's got the mouth of a sailor or truck driver (not meant as a derogatory comment) and she rolls around in the most normal of clothes before and after she races. Then when it's time to race, she's is the most unreal thing on a bike - there's nothing she CAN'T do. Gotta love her and all of her positive and encouraging light.![]()
I'm doing the cat 4 race on Sat. I believe I have a few teammates in my race and at least one in the Women's Open. Do you know the course?
No, I don't know the course at all. You?
I'll be in the Open field. First race as a Cat 3.
I'm also thinking about doing the Tour of High Bridge on Sunday. That one sounds really interesting.
Watermelon Crit course is on Livingston Campus @ Rutgers University in Piscataway (I went to school there so if you have questions about directions or anything let me know). The course is really flat and there are 3 turns, the "4th" is a wide sweeping bend in the road.
Congratulations on your upgrade! That's fantastic. I've heard that the racing is different in that it's more like racing "with the guys" = higher and steadier pace vs. the yo-yoing that goes on in women's 4 races.
High Bridge has 2 nasty climbs - not long but steep. You'll need at least a 25 if not 27 on your cassette.
Good luck with both races![]()
Oh cool, nice description.
Thanks. I'm looking forward to the challenge.
Thanks for the tip about High Bridge. I'll see how my legs feel for that one.
Good luck to you, too!
