Aggie I'm glad your hubby could make short order of the flat and you were strong enough to make it home before the storm. Lightning really gets the adrenaline rolling. I had a nice 29 mile ride. First sunny day we've had in a long time. The wind even went down for my last stretch of the ride. I saw 3 deer cross the road at 3 different places. Usually they are in a group together. Weather is still holding out for clouds and storms most the week. I'm going to try and forget the showers and ride anyway-unless storms are brewing.

My roommate Amie and I did a 25 mile ride started the Portola Valley loop, went up Old La Honda (one of the major classic climbs in the area), decended highway 84, and then completed the Portola loop. My climb up Old La Honda, ~ 3 miles with ~1200 ft. elevation gain, was OK, especially given that I had food poisoning Wed night to Thursday, and am just getting back to eating normally. Trying out a new saddle.... going to need some additional tweaking until I can make a decision, so we will see. All in all a good day, and a nice break from the dissertation!

I was able to get 30 miles in. It was warm (88) - I wish I had started earlier. Tried out a new saddle - Terry. I got a little numb in the tail after 20 miles. But I probably am not set right yet. But less chafing on the inner thighs is worth it!
It's all about the journey (my reason for riding slower)
