I didn't go double to triple. However, I did go from Sora to 105. It was a small learning curve for me using the shifters. Lucky HoopRide!

I went from a triple to a standard double...then to a compact crank. I did just a couple of challenging mountain rides 6000+ elevation gain on the standard, but my plans for the season included centuries with 12,500+ of gain, some with some pretty steep grades, so I wanted the extra climbing gears. I guess it would depend on what kind of riding you're doing...there are moments during certain rides that I wish for a triple, but I know I wouldn't use it that much.
