Unlike most of you, I wasn't fast and didn't ride very long (neither of those things matter much to me anymore), but did have a great ride with DH this morning to the farmer's market, where we loaded up his panniers with local organic lettuces, local honey, and a couple of plants; and to the post office. We also ran into a neighbor on our road who stopped to say how much she admired that I was on my bike again (I fractured my pelvis two years ago after a run-in with a couple of unrestrained dogs). We rode our Bike Fridays and were not going for speed, just for fun and utility, and it was our longest ride of the year, believe it or not (15.85 miles).![]()

I'll add another record to the list of accomplishments today. I rode my longest ride ever! Suzie and I rode the Vine Ride 65 mile route. The Vine Ride isn't until August, but I got the route from the website and put it into routeslip. Here's a link...http://www.routeslip.com/routes/44281
We had a few misadventures along the way today, too. At one point I wasn't sure where to turn. Some of the country roads out here start with one name, then change. I thought I had the correct turn, but wasn't 100%, so we kept going for a few more miles, then had to turn back. We finally got that straightened out and were on the right track. Then, at about mile 55 the road was closed. Completely closed. Not even a place to walk through. But there was a detour posted, so we took it. Well, a few miles of loose gravel roadlater we were back on the blessed smooth pavement again.
All in all we rode just over 72 miles!!! We weren't fast (12.7 average) but we did it, and we didn't have to walk up any hills...and there were plenty of those, let me tell you!
I'm stoked because we have a supported ride next Saturday (Suzie, Darcy and I, plus dh are going to the Strawberry Century in Lebanon, OR) and we're riding the 72 mile route. Well, except for dh...I think he's doing the century. So I know I'm ready! Bring it on!
If anyone else is doing the Strawberry, speak up! We'd love to meet you!
I got in a solo flat 75 today. Started out around 10:30 and finished in just under 5 hours ride time, w/ a pit stop at a gas station Subway for a turkey sandwich.
Was a nice day... breezy, partly cloudy, and between 70-85 degrees (start to finish).
I rode within feet of a feeding vulture, and had a couple other impressive bird experiences, it was cool =)
Avg 15.5

Well, neither a long nor fast ride here.
DH and I did a 10 mile loop on Rosaryville SP's singletrack after spending the better part of the day in Clarendon, VA at the CSC Invitational.
Caught the tail end of the women's race and most of the men's race.
Here are some pics of the event. I hope to get more up on Photobucket soon.
DH is all fired up no to burn up the road tomorrow on the shop ride. Hopefully the weather will cooperate.

Yea, those pictures look pretty sluggish to me :P
Saunterly rides today - my group ride for 20 miles and then another 18 or so with the errands of life. My fourth day with no car, as if I would have even considered using it.
Did "Kid's Safety" day and sold helmets adn bought one for myself since the Flower Power one was my sizeI'm not even going to take the Fisher-PRice sticker off...
I rode 22 miles today between running into Louisville for "stuff" and cleaning out my basement for the major repairs that start on Monday. I struggled most of the ride, never found a comfortable cadence. I swear something is rubbing or not turning properly on my bike for I feel a lot of resistance that has not been there previously. I think I'll ask BF to work on it while I'm recovering from my surgery. Maybe something needs to be lubed or repacked I don't know but something ain't right on my little blue bike.

We did 57 miles from Burnet, TX to Lampasas, TX and back. It is starting to get hot, so we really will have to start getting on the road in the morning. I enjoyed the ride but there were a lot of low water crossings that were actually covered due to heavy rains the last few weeks. My poor bike will be clean thoroughly tomorrow. We also added 3 miles because the cut off was closed due to flooding.
Forgot to add my personal milestone- finally hit 1,000 miles for the year. My goal is 3,500, so I better keep up with the riding. Good for me that I will still be able to ride December 31!!

If I hadn't done a century a few weeks ago, the 50 miles yesterday would have been my PR.
I'm late posting this but wanted to share our wonderful ride with you all. SO and I went out for 70 miles on Saturday. The temperature was about 90F by the time we finished and the humidity was off the charts but the ride was still so much fun. We saw so many baby animals! A one-week-old donkey - I could have taken it home with me, it was SOOOOO cute! Six baby geese, two baby goats and....the highlight of the ride - a mama bear and two tiny cubs! They were right beside the road and we were riding very slowly because we were climbing. We came around a turn and heard a crash in the woods to our left. We looked, and mom was jumping into the thicket. The two cubs dashed up a tree and watched us ride by. OMG were they precious!! I didn't have a camera and probably would not have chanced stopping to take a picture anyway. I was dreading the climb up that mountain but after the bears the climb wasn't so bad.![]()

Congrats to everyone who set personal bests of one kind or another today (and to everyone who just got out there and rode!).
I rode with my friend Tony from home up to Victoria, around the waterfront, and back home. It was hot, hilly, and windy. When I got home, the odo said only 68km![]()

It felt like we had done 168. Not sure why I was so shocked; I know how far it is to town and back, and how far the total trip should have been (about 60km), but it seemed so...hmmm...long and gruelling today. Still, a fun ride on trails, highways, downtown traffic, and seaside roads, and a decent avg speed as well.
