I liked the old WW - where you had the extra points to use during the week or special occasion. This was great when I went out to dinner/lunch on the weekend. I like WW - I've been following it on my own since the end of March - have only lost 12 pounds. I have been off work since mid January - had some knee surgery. Just started riding. I don't think I'm doing to bad, considering - basically being a couch potato. Also, I started writing down(journalling) everything I eat.

I read about this a long time ago, and it really does work for me. You eat whatever the heck you want, as much as you want.

Lost about 50 or 60 lbs. Don't know exactly, don't really care. I feel good, my cholesterol is down, and food is yummy rather than guilt-ridden.
I agree Knot. I do not forbid myself any food and have lost 75+ and a lot of inches.

    Eating for Life

I lost 65 lbs one year ago through a medical weight management program offered where I work, and have kept it off through the "Eating for Life" plan and cycling. I LOVE the Eating for Life program....it doesn't taste like "diet" food, lots of ww pasta, bread, etc., and tons of variety.....and I eat every 3-4 hours. I've never felt better.

Good luck in what ever you choose!!

    I'm on the seefood diet.

I generally eat what I want, when I want, until I feel satisfied. This usually amounts to a medium-sized meal or two and a lot of snacking. I do try to take my time while eating, to avoid fast food and high fructose corn syrup; I mostly try to avoid anything with too many ingredients on the label or eat foods without labels and find that it works pretty well for me.

I'm riding +/-150 miles a week so my problem at this point is trying to eat enough to maintain my weight & energy more than anything.

Gnat, I saw your comment about the Garmin calorie count being off; I've found that mine (the 205) matches what several online calculators give me almost exactly. Not sure that those are accurate, but I wonder if your User Profile is set up correctly? I forget what mine was set to out of the box, but am almost certain that it was male and a lot bigger than me!

That's crazy, Anne! I just tried a bunch of online calculators per your note here, and you're right: they do match up.

In that case, I wonder if I shouldn't be eating more... Might explain my severe energy dip every afternoon!

I was on WW two different times over 20 years and did well on it both times (losing 30 lbs)but discovered it didn't take care of my root problems which were sugar and carb cravings. (I have an extreme tendancy to eat very little protein and a lot of carbs.) Now I have reversed that and feel way better.

After gaining 20 lbs back due to starting a 2nd job, I quit the job, started exercising and started the South Beach diet which I love,
I am down 18 lbs and am able to control my carb consumption much more. Also I discovered through starting South Beach that I am allergic to all wheat and oat products. So an even better benefit on top of ithe weight loss is my breathing is way better and I can climb hills way faster on my bike than I could last year

raw organic vegetarian..not a diet. it's just how THE LORD told us to eat.

    Counting calories.

Using sparkpeople and just logging what I eat, and being aware. It's amounting to portion control sometimes, and more or less just eating what I want. I'm amazed at how well it's working.

Which explains why scarfing huge handfuls of Peanut M&Ms has always seemed like somewhat of a religious experience!
