Sorry ladies... I was out of town from Friday until today- Tuesday.
I have bad news... I was a DNS...![]()
Race cancelled due to rain
Yep. It started to POUR DOWN RAIN... right when the race was due to start. About 5:30 AM it started... and didn't let up until 7:30 AM. After they had decided the race had to be cancelled.
Driving in... we saw a road sign that said, "Turnaround, don't drown". It was an omen.
It totally sucks that my first Oly was cancelled. Dang it.
Now for some positive stuff:
1) Eating dinner at Dennis and Carey's house the night before. It was great meeting everyone from Beginner Triathlete.
2) Eating some really yummy food the rest of the time I was in Austin. *Rubs her big belly*
3) Being lazy and spending time with my boyfriend.
4) Not having muddy running shoes or having to ride my bike on wet roads. I was REALLY DREADING that... along with it being turned into a duathlon.
5) Not having to swim in a wetsuit or having to get in cold water.
Yea, so it sucked... but there were some positives as I see it. Now, I have a sprint June 10th (thank goodness I signed up for it!) and I'm signing up for the Ironhead Oly in July.
Time to stay focused and keep training!
Thanks for asking. Sorry my race report isn't more interesting.

Sorry to hear it was cancelled - that really sucks
that is one of my fears of doing my first one that after all this prep I won't get to do it. and we don't have many around here I can go to.
Good luck on your next one
It's about the journey and being in the moment, not about the destination
Oh man- I didn't know you were racing in Austin. A guy from our tri club drove down there only to have it cancelled. He was totally bummed (and I would be too after driving for 6 hours to get there). Bummer!!!!
At least you have the 10th to look forward to!!!!
Glad you got to have some down time with bf and got to meet some people from BT (and you didn't have to do an unexpected du).
We'll catch you next race...

Wow, major bummer, KSH.![]()
At least you made lemonade out of your lemons and had a great time! Now you don't have to worry about recovery, either, you can just keep on truckin'.
Bummer.... I saw the photo of a very disappointed guy from Mexico City on the cover of the Austin American Statesman this morning. I didn't realize that was the tri you were doing. The water flowing up north of Austin looked absolutely septic, I wouldn't stick my big toe in that crud! At least you got to enjoy our yummy food and meet new people.![]()

Well that is stinky. I am really sorry. Grrrrhhhhh....bad weather....
On the up side, at least you are ok....I was starting to think that maybe something had happened when we did not hear from you. I was a worrying!
Well, I have raced in the pouring down rain and it is stinks, so dry, relaxed and well fed, sounds like a better plan.

Boo - sorry it was cancelled. But glad you can see some positives! Good luck on the 10th!

Bummer! After all the planning . . . Its a good thing you have the sprint on the 10th to look forward to. At least you still had some fun.![]()
The best part about going up hills is riding back down!
Thanks for all the kind words... and for worrying about me Ruth. I really do appreciate it.
Yep, CapTex... that was my race... my first Olympic. HA! The first time in 17 years... the race got cancelled.![]()
I had already told myself though, to let myself down easy... that if it rained at CapTex... even if I had raced... I would still do an Olympic July 15th in Dallas. I want to run the race all out without weather in my way!![]()
So, thanks again... and here's to good training days ahead! Keep up all the great work ladies.
