Hello all, does anyone ride a Trek 420?

Uh, yeah I used to have one.

Great all round steel touring bike, relaxed geometry, very nice ride.

Treks entry level bottom of the barrel cheap as they come road frame. The gears, wheels it came with, not too good.

But upgrade and you've got a nice bike. By that time I could have spent the same and had the 5200 WSD .... but the 420 fit me so well

Its all about the fit.

Good luck trying one, Trek stopped making them long ago. Mine was a 1986 and the color of the year was purple to green fade

They stopped production of the 420 soon after that.

Check the vintage site for colors/dates.

You can still get the next bump up the 520 at your LBS which I think is a good bike.
