Were any of you at the Hartford Criterium at Bushnell Park yesterday? It was the first live race I've seen, and I was so inspired!! It was awesome!

I'm just an occasional lurker here on the site, but I was there and racing. It was a perfect day for it and the course was fantastic! I was surprised by how nice the roads were for a downtown race course. And you are absolutely right, criteriums are WAY fun.

If you were inspired, I hope it motivates you to get out there and try your hand (legs?) at racing. There aren't nearly enough women racing. Mind you, Hartford was an open women's field, so if that's what you were watching, bear in mind that it was a little faster and more aggressive than what you'd face in a typical women's cat 4 race.

    Thumbs up

Hi, K. I don't know which racer you were, but I was SO impressed by all of you! I was there with one of the friends I ride with frequently, and her friend was racing. (I have no idea what I was watching, if they were different race types or categories. I was the one standing there in awe!) I was MOST impressed by that woman who appeared to be 70 years old or so!! She may have fallen way behind the pack, but she never gave up!!! Apparently she races all the time! All I can tell you is that between watching the race this weekend, and the Lance video that someone put a link to on TE this week ("If you can't make your booty move, your booty must be dead!), I just shut my pie hole, pumped up the hills, AND picked up the pace a little last night!

That was one of my teammates! She is actually 65, and is the current Cyclocross National Champion in her age category. Julie comes out and does ALL the races, and has a good time.

kedwards - I'll see you in Auburn .

Hey SheFly, nice to see you and the ladies at Auburn. You were dead on about not letting Ivy get away.

See what I mean when I described the crit course as ugly though? It was a tough one. Torn up roads and I was hating that little hill by lap 12. Then again, those features enabled the early break.

    Enjoy the season!

Nice results for you this weekend! I'm sure I'll see you at a few more races this season.
