... Should I feel happy? There were only two of us in the womans category, so practically I finished last, but it was so difficult that even some men have stopped the race after the first circle, and, at least, I finished (and I didn't even drove with mountain but traking bike and my tires were much thiner) . After 9,5 km the girl that finished first was 36 seconds better. Somehow I feel ashamed to tell the people I won silver medal. Even my sister laughed at me when I said that I had only one concurrent.
What do you think? Is it better to keep my mouth shout? Would you laughed?

You should be very proud! It sounds like a tough ride, and you did well!
Congratulations!

Holy - 36 seconds! That's a *race*! You did extremely well!
One time I came first in category at a race with only one competitor. When I tell people about it, nearly everyone says, well you shouldn't be telling people there was only one other person! <smile> In comparison, she was 27 minutes behind me. But she still came second. She finished, she raced, and that's what it's all about!
iFKA, be proud of yourself! You're a racer!

You should be very, VERY proud of yourself.
As for the sister, well...
Does she race?
Tell the story with a smile and finish by saying
"I think I did quite well. I'm rather proud of myself"
Be proud of yourself, that's what matters.

Yes, you should feel happy. You were tough enough to come to the start line, ride a race that others were dropping out of (regardless of gender), and still finish very strong. Maybe if it were easier, more women would have showed up.You earned that medal, wear it with pride.
You should be proud- you finished!! If you hadn't you would have gotten a DNF, not a medal.![]()

You don't have to be great to get started, but you do have to get started to be great. -Lee J. Colan
YES! YES! YES!
I won second place out of three of us last year. I told EVERYONE!
Congrats
As other's have said. The hardest thing to do is get to the starting line. You're farther along than 99.99% of the population.
Anyone else notice that when you tell non-cyclists that you race, they all immediatly think you're super fast and are in awe of your super human skills.
Humility is good, but not when you sell yourself short. Savor the victory and hang the medal somewhere prominent![]()
Next time your sister expresses an opinion...invite her to join the race next time.![]()

You started, you did your best, you finished, you won the medal.
End of story.Onward and upward!
All you need is love...la-dee-da-dee-da...all you need is love!
She doesn't even drive the bike, she just can't find the beauty in it, but so does everyone else. They all think I'm a freak for doing all that, but it doesn't matter.
I wanted to know what would you all, as bikers, think about story like that. I'm glad you support meNow I can proudly hand my medal in my living room
Thank you girls, you made my day much better![]()
