Web based photo albums

I have never used a web-based photo album

This thread combined with my daughter moving out of home plus the photos I take for our club make me think maybe I should.

I also have another deciding thing... I took pix of our bikes a couple of weeks ago... I have a "normal" or "old-fasioned" (choose description based on your age) SLR camera, so when I get the film developed and printed, I also get all photos onto CD.

So I went to upload the pix of my two racing bikes, and the files are waaaaay too big to attach into TE

So, down-sizing is not an option, I tried and they just look rubbish

If I had them in an online album, would attaching them still be a problem or would it be 'no worries' because I am only linking to another web-site, not caching the actual photos in TE??

RoadRaven, I don't downsize photos when I upload photos to an online album like Photobucket. I think it will do it for you. You can then link to photos in TE and it does the resizing or whatever it needs.

However, this doesn't mean that when your photos are uploaded to the online album that the same degradation of quality won't occur. Try one of the free services (such as photobucket) and run some tests. Won't cost you anything but time.

PS -- all the above said on my very limited experience.

I think you'll find picasa easy to use and it gives you the option of saving a copy. You can keep one at the original size in case you ever want to print it and you can resize the copy for web viewing
