I know how you feel. When I bought my Ruby Pro I felt a little guilty about spending that much money even though DH didn't say a word about it...other than, "It's your money - do what you want." But if it's YOUR money I wouldn't feel guilty...if it's "OUR" money then, yeah, it would be tough. Hope it works out for you.

Buy it if it fits.
I thought I was going crazy (and broke) last year when I bought my Bianchi road bike less than 2 months after buying my Trek FX. It was indulgent and crazy and expensive, but it was also the best money I've ever spent. The Bianchi and I already have thousands of miles on the road together and hopefully many more.![]()
Live with intention. Walk to the edge. Listen hard. Practice wellness. Play with abandon. Laugh. Choose with no regret. Continue to learn. Appreciate your friends. Do what you love. Live as if this is all there is.

Mr. rides a 49cm Lemond. What his legs don't have in length they make up for in strength..... How can any guy (male) fit on a such small bike??

"Being retired from Biking...isn't that kinda like being retired from recess?" Stephen Colbert asked of Lance Armstrong
Reasoning that I have used (with a BF, who had no say over my money, but I am a wimp, and he was a control freak):
Now that I am riding regularly, I don't want to get out of the habit if my bike breaks down.
This bike is for X, the other is for Y.
But I will but if hubby had some of his money to spend on hobbies, he wouldn't feel the need to discuss it and agree on it. We women are so trained to try seek an agreement!
Wish you luck!

It is MY lane!!!... It is MY lane!!!... It is MY lane!!!... It is MY lane!!!... It is MY lane!!!... ...It is TOO my lane!!!...
If it's a great deal, it gets you to the next level at a discount, and he'll understand...I'd go for it. I don't think that you should feel guilty about wanting it if you have the means.
If he's really not going to understand or if it strains your budget, the "wedge" caused by just doing it is not worth the few dollars you'd save.
But, my guess is that if he recognizes the benefits you derive from cycling and see it as a healthy activity for you, he'll be understanding and supportive.
Good luck.

I can't help thinking that if this were the 50's or 60's we would all be talking about a new dress, and not a bike![]()
but I wonder how much different our conversation would be![]()
I will have to remember that answer from Roguedog, in case I ever have an SO again![]()
Of course it would be even better if the sex came first, and then hubby bought the bike as a gift. But maybe that somehow got lost in the exchange of a new frock for a bike.![]()

So by now, you looked at the bike.
I take it from your lack of a post that you didn't get it?
How'd it go?
2007 Seven ID8 - Bontrager InForm
2003 Klein Palomino - Terry Firefly (?)
2010 Seven Cafe Racer - Bontrager InForm
2008 Cervelo P2C - Adamo Prologue Saddle
Thanks for checking in on me, Regina. Sadly, the guy said it was taken. I had been e-mailing him and he was slow to respond and he finally told me that it had been taken. I guess it wasn't meant to be. Still checking out the CL daily. I noticed there was a Giant CR3 going for $500 which I know is a great bike but just out of what I was budgeting for a roadie.![]()
