Thanks everyone - it will be so cool!

Regina - good question on the fork accent color - I have no idea! Uh oh. What if the fork is blue, and the cassette is red! Ack!

In any case, the red of the cassette is a little too red for my taste, so I am looking for a dark red bar tape, but having trouble - everything looks so bright red to me. Anyone have any sources for a darker red tape?

(actually, the red on the "Z" in my avatar would be perfect...)

Maybe I'll switch to the cassette with the black center if the fork is blue. Hmmm. I'm going to the LBS tomorrow to see the frame before it gets build up - I'll check out the tape options then!

Whew! I thnk the fork is red, because it is the "5E", not the super-duper "5E-XYZ-very-expensive" one. Thank goodness, my plan of red accent is still possible!

First rides - hmmm. Chris said he doesn't recommend that the first few rides on a new bike be long and challenging. So, I think my first ride should be the Bay Trail or similar, so I can get used to all the new-ness without being on a big long hilly ride out in the middle of nowhere. I'm thinking the next ride should be Old Tunnel and Skyline, so I can try it out my my familiar hills, and not be too far from home. And after that, everything is fair game!

You can bet I'll post ride schedule details, and anyone who wants to come along is welcome - riding my new bike with good friends is celebration enough for me! :-)

Smile It's here! It's here! Pictures!

Well, my frame arrived safely in San Leandro today, and I ducked in the LBS door just before closing to take a look. Chris fished it out of the box and hung it up for me to take some pictures, and graciously waited around while I did so, even though he had to be somewhere...

    Without further ado...

It does have decals, but I think that's OK - and Bubba told me they can be peeled off anyway

And Chris has a few other non-stealthy Sevens just cluttering up the place - Mimitabby, I think the orange one is right up your alley!

(I also recognized Trek420's Mondonico in the store waiting for some work!)

On Tuesday I'll take my "old" bike over to swap the wheels and pedals, and then by the end of next week I'll have a ridable bike!

I stopped by the LBS yesterday to visit my frame again, and drop off my wheels. Chris is building up my bike today and tomorrow, and the plan is for me to "take delivery" Saturday sometime. Woo hoo! (Local TE-ers - Please see my post in the ride forum for the "inaugural ride!")

Here's a picture of the lovely curves in the chain and seat stays:

Let's see if I can remember the details:

    From my old bike:
mavic Ksyrium wheels, Look pedals, and selle an-atomica saddle

    new:
    Chris King headset (pewter)
Simano XTR mtn rear cassette and XTR RD
Simano DuraAce short-reach shifters and brakes
    Utegra triple (24-38-53) and cranks
IRD FD (interloc racing design - supposed to be good with big tooth gaps like I have)
Salsa seat post (separate adjustment screws for fore/aft and tilt)
    Salsa "short and shallow) handlebars
nice dark red Fizik bar tape

    Did I forget anything?

I've decided for the time being to leave the decal on the down tube, but we're taking the model decal ("Alaris") off the top tube, so it won't be totally stealth.

Beautiful Bike! It's so nice to treat yourself to something like that!

By the way, next time you go in the shop, say hello to Chris from me. Spoke aka Jan Blackman.

I'm glad his shop is still doing great

What will its first ride be?

Ohh the blue is pretty in real life(the SO just built up new wheels with the KK blue headset, and then did blue nipples on the wheels)

COngrats on the new bike! It is beautiful
