St. Louis - Paid $3.10 for gas at Sam's club - usually the cheapest around. I couldn't believe it cost $40 to fill up my little Honda CRV. To top it off, I have a terrible, vicious cold. I'm not able to even ride the measly 2 miles to work.

Front page of our paper today - Kelowna has dubious distinction of having highest gas prices in Canada. (Probably in North America too)

Almost £4 per gallon in my town and in some places over £4 per gallon ($8+).

I've driven approximately 250 miles since Sunday. Two trips to the airport picking up my brother then taking him back, an 80 mile round trip to the hospital (my brother has just been tissue-typed to see if he's a suitable kidney donor for my son - we'll have the results next week sometime). The cost in diesel alone has been £85 and I've really missed not cycling this week.

Never mind, I'm back on my bike in the morning

It ranges from $2.98 to $3.14 here in Baton Rouge. I sure wish I could bike commute!

I kept up with the gas prices I paid on my recent drive from Arkansas to Portland, OR and back. (We made a loop, northerly on the way, southerly on the way back--13 states in 15 days.) The highest I paid was in Susanville, CA, $3.49. I thought I was going to have a heart attack. There were a couple of places where I paid less than $3.00.

When I got home, the local price quickly jumped to $3.29 in my town and stayed there. We are on the border of Oklahoma, somewhat removed (25 miles) from other Arkansas towns, so we get our gas from Oklahoma terminals. Twenty-five miles away, in Fayetteville, AR, the gas is often at least 10 cents more, which is a full 40 cents higher than the rest of the state.

The record I had paid before CA was in Vermont, in the week after Katrina, when I paid $3.09 for biodiesel (still wishing I had my little diesel Bug right about now).

I hate that the price of gas changes daily around here. One day it's $3.29 and the next $3.22, but dang if I don't need any that day! The next day it's back up.
