    New Bike

    Hi all,
I am new here, and I love this site. I am currently in training for my first tri, and I am looking to buy a road bike. I am no speed demon by any stretch. However, I am trying to decided between a Trek Pilot 2.1 WSD or a Cannondale Synapse Fem 3. Does anyone have an opinion on either of these? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi -- I have no experience with either. Did you test either of them? Did you read reviews? From what I've heard, usually people fall in love with one bike or the other (or none of the above) by riding them. What type of distance are you thinking of doing and what type of cycling background do you have?

I have a Trek Pilot 5.2 wsd that I love and I know women who love both the 1.2 and the 2.1. You should probably test ride both and see which one feels the best to you.
You should never stop learning: :

I have the pilot 2.1 and LOVE it. Tried several Cannondale's and never found one that fit me that I also had control of. I knew before leaving the parking lot the Cannondale's were out. Try them all out, you'll know when you find the right bike.

Thanks for your input. I have tested the Trek but not the Cannondale. The Cannondale shop is very small and they do not have much stock so they would have to order one. I was trying to get an idea to see if it was worth the hassle. I have tried the Specialized Roubaix and Giant OCR. The Giant I didn't care for, but the Specialized was nice. However, I can get a pretty good deal on the Trek. Now I am trying to decide if I want to wait and spend the extra money on a carbon frame. I thought that doing a tri would be cheap!!!
