    Tardy May 17 Ride Report

I went to one of my LBS's for their weekly Thursday evening ride. I was the only person to show up which is good because I'm such a special needs child. This was my first time negotiating traffic and I do not like it. It was fine once we got farther from the built up areas. Too much downhill tho,I've become an uphill monkey! It slowed down our average terribly, high speed was 21mph on the flat into a slight headwind. I think thats respectable.
A very short 15 miles but the best part is I'm over 100 miles for the month and I'm happy with that too.

31.87 miles for DH and I after work. We are trying to average 100 miles a week from now until the end of the year. Last week we only got 47 miles, so we need to get more in this weekend. We start counting on Mondays and last night was the first ride of the week.

My 18 mile ride was bad...it was chilly and windy, I felt drained.

But, I did hit a new high speed - 41mph! (downhill of course)

Happy Bike to your Day Off Day

Took my normal route to BART and picked up bag-o-SWAG and a strawberry at the refresher station.

turned 'round and headed to the next BART station for another bag-o-SWAG.

On the way there was a refresher station at a school yard. Kids and teachers very excited it seemed to see me, waved me over ... another bag-o-SWAG.

Semi stern lecture on my part to the teachers that it's great they are encouraging kids to ride but "what's with it that none of them have helmets?? "

One kid asks "why do we need to wear them"
Teacher "because it protects your brains "
Trek "that's true but also....because it's the law"
Kid and teacher "whah? " they didn't know.

Hop on the bike pedal further, get on BART to Lake Merrit station, pedal round the lake down to downtown Oakland. I missed the pacake breakefast but had a great time.
