I beg to differ, girl! You are riding; you are training. That is no joke!

I felt like a jock this week when I told my two older brothers (who are pretty strong, do a lot of liftiing and cardio classes at the gym) that I rode my bike to the top of Hurricane Ridge over the weekend. They're not cyclists, so even though they can kick my a$$ in the gym, they think this makes me a jock!

I felt like a jock when some guy in pickup truck gave me this fist pumping thing and said, "I've got to hand it to you. That's dedication and I think what you're doing is MAGNIFICENT!" I was headed home, but that made me feel so good that I rode 10 more miles.

    I'm such a jock....

...that one time on a bike ride, I threw out my back spinning around to follow a cool bird as it flew across the street!
    Oooooo....
Creeped home and made an emergency call to my chiropractor!

Well, I felt like a jock the other day when I fixed my first flat all by myself- and got the tire back on the rim with my bare hands!!!!

But then again, my one and only fall so far was also at 0 mph. The very first time I stopped after trying my PowerGrip foot straps. Came to a halt, started thinking too much and....TIMBERRRRRRRRR!!!!!!! Not very jockesque.

Ok yes I know I have now jinxed myself by saying I've only fallen once.
Wish me luck on my next fall which now will likely come any day.

    Fun jock stories!!

I skied for three hours after I broke my tibia in a mogul crash. I stayed in a rugby game after I broke my nose (I just packed it with kleenex). I rode my bike home after I broke my wrist playing "rollerball" at the rink with some friends...it never occurred to me to call for a ride.

I was completely nuts when I was younger, I truly believed that "pain don't hurt" and just played on...now I get to deal with the results of all those injuries. But truth be told, I wish I could still be that devil-may-care person.

X has some stories... I'm going to rib her a bit and 'encourage' her to post...

I'm such a jock- A friend of mine took me mountain biking for the first time on a real singletrack. I had the hots for her just a little, so of course "Naahhhhh, pain don't hurt!" I did a 0mph tipover (on flats!) I was launched into all manner of trees and brush, we get into her blazer, on her cush leather seats and I become aware that, with all my dozens of scrapes and lacerations, I'm bleeding on her seats. Nevermind that I can barely move.
She says "uh.... good thing they're black leather seats."
I say "*sniff* ahhh yeah. "
She says "Uh, no, you're bleeding on them."
I say "Oh. Eh. Just a flesh wound."
    She goes

I'm such a jock- my first bike ride w/ X, She's on her road bike, I'm on the steel mtb, and I need to hammer as hard as I can to look as zoomy as I'd said I was. So... I... *gasp, wheeeze* did the *gasp!* best I *hack! rrrhhh!* could! ...then stood there, chest puffed out, *wheeeze, pant* and said "Nice little ride!"

I am such a jock- The Cinderella Ride. (if you know the story, you'll agree.
