Hello all..
I have not written in a VERY, VERY long time. Just so much going on! The Hotter N Hell in Whichita Falls, Texas will be here before we know it. Just sending a note to see if KSH is doing it this year and seeing if there are crazy others that might want to join in this time around. Last year the temp. was 106! I guess the name says it all.
I have still been dealing with crazy drivers, people stopping their vehicle and actaully trying to get me to stop and talk to them, and whatever else that we encounter on the road!
Maybe I will hear from some crazy cyclists that want to try or ride again in the Hotter...Safe pedaling....

As it gets closer we should keep in touch. KSH (another TE person) rode it with me last year. We had a great time! Hopefully, we can get a small group together to ride it. Last year, there were over 11,000 riders! It was awesome! Talk to you soon...Heidi

Seriously thinking about it. I'll know for sure around the beginning of June.
I just started seriously hitting the rode again after 2 years of taking it pretty easy, so I've got some work to do before I'm ready for this one.
Did my first ride of the season that was over 25 miles this morning (40-ish miles) and it was a bit painful near the end, but I managed, and with my indoor trainer coming in Monday I should be able to kick it into high gear and be ready.
Good for you! I have such a feeling of freedom when I am on my bike...Like others, there are days that I have to just touch the seat as it sits in my kitchen! LOL..My bike seems to be such a huge part of my life...I don't know what made me take so long to actually get into riding..Now, I am addicted!
KSH and I learned from last year, that it was hard to get the hundred in when you are at the start, walking your bike to a spot where you can get on and actually ride, because of the masses of people. I know folks that don't ride out with the starting group. They go up a little bit, so that they are not stuck in the middle...
I personally enjoy all that...!
Just to let you all know, you might get a hotel as soon as you know and make sure that you do not have a min. of 2 nights...KSH went through an ordeal over that last year...
Heidi
It's official! Hotel reserved, 100 mile registered, and well into distance/heat training.

I plan on riding the HnH100 this year. It will be my first time. My bike friends have ridden it and they say it's a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to it. Don't know if I'll try the full 100 or not...depends on how hot it is.

Hey Heidi! Good to hear from you again!
Happy to hear things are good with you!
Yea, I have debated going to ride or not. I can't see myself getting a hotel room again, and if I don't get a hotel room... I can't go. Driving 2.5 hours there, riding 75-100 miles and then driving 2.5 hours home... wouldn't be a wise decision.
So... I would love to do it... and take on the challenge again... but it's very iffy at this point.
I also wonder if I will be ready for it in time. This year I have really been focused on my triathlon stuff... so I kind of training geared towards my upcoming races. I don't know if I can get the long rides in that I need before the ride.
We did have a great time though and you totally saved my butt the last half of the ride. That headwind was brutal and without you, we would have been going so much slower!

Hello Karen!
Sorry, it has been crazy with work and parenting in general! I haven't ridden much in the last 2 weeks, but have been on the treadmill more...I have heard that all the hotels are gone already, but I haven't looked into it yet. I would like to ride the hundred, but it would be fun just to ride in it again..I will look for rooms and let you know what I find. I would like to ride it, but I certainly am not as strong as I was last year ....Maybe we can suffer together again?I will keep you posted...AND whoever else wants to suffer along with us....

That would be good....I am not having any luck yet finding rooms in Wichita Falls...I might have to stay in Vernon again, like last time...I should have known beter then wait this long to get a room! Lesson learned! Keep in touch...
By the way, who was dying on the side of the road a few miles from the finish line and you were goating me on?Maybe we helped both out ....

Heidi, I did a lot of leg work trying to find a hotel and I saved all the info. I'll forward you the availability I came across two days ago. It's pretty sparse inside the city limits.
Check your PMs.![]()
Hello fellow Hotter N Hell crazy ones! I have finally registered myself and broke down and got a room in Vernon. It is a ways off, but it was an easy search! I look forward to riding it again this year..It was so awesome last year...Anyone that is riding, should we all meet and ride some miles together, or all?Just an idea...I don't have anyone to ride with at this time. Some people that I rode with in a group are going, but their avergage speed is about 17 mph for 40 miles. I know that I can not go that fast for longer then 40 miles....soooooo...looking for a fun ride....nothing too fast!
