I work with a cat rescue group.
Have your co-worker check with local cat rescue group. The groups here in California are pretty nice and we help out families like your co-workers to find their babies a new home. If the kitties need to stay together, they can request that they go together as brother and sisters.
The rescue group generally would like some bio about the cats their likes, dislikes and medical records.
Keep in mind too that not all rescue groups are same. Some just want to push the cat to a new family even it isn't a good match. I always insist on interviewing the family ourselves to get a feel for them. And your co-worker should also request that they have the last say as to who gets to adopt their kitties.
to give you an idea here is one of the rescue group I work with and foster bottle fed kittens. www.purrfectpartners.com
I wish the kitties a nice new home and well being to their new baby.
