First off, congrats on signing up for your first tri. www.beginnertriathlete.com has some really user friendly training plans. Check to water temperature for the swim, even if the weather is hot, the water isn't necessarily. It's about 100 degrees here in July, but the lakes are only about 65 - 70. Since it's your first tri, don't stress too much about performance. Follow a training plan, get there in enough time to familiarize yourself with the course. Practice transitions, then if you are distracted at the race, you won't forget something important (helmet, hat, sunscreen or gels.) Since your tri will be hot, keep hydrated, I always have to remind myself on the bike to drink. Have fun and Good luck.
