Wanted - Hybrid or Mtn Bike

We are looking for a bike to take out when we aren't taking the road bikes out. We have one so far...it's a bit small but it'll work This would be a "wear your normal clothes to go to the store or post office" kind of bike. The kind we could lock up outside if we go out to eat and not have to stare out the window to make sure nothing happens to it.

We aren't picky! DH is 6'1", I am 5'11". We are looking at bikes on sale but heck, a used one would probably be better and for less money. We're looking for one or possibly two bikes.

If anyone in the Northwest area has anything like that, let me know

p.s. If any SoCal people have decent casual riding type bikes, let me know too. My parents live there and we go down at least once a month. Would be nice to have a couple of bikes down there too

Have you been checking out Craigslist? Lots of hybrids and mountain bikes crop up there pretty regularly. I just saw this one a few minutes ago while helping a friend look for a bike:

And actually, I just bought (as in, bought it today) an '06 Bianchi Boardwalk that was on sale at Sammamish Valley Cycle (I think they have a few '06 models that they've marked down to around the $400 mark) for some of the same reasons you're looking. (And, um, because my lovely LeMond is out of commission for up to another month after a recent "incident"...*sigh*)
