Anyone ever have knee injections - hyalgan injections??? If so, did it help and for how long? How many injections did you have? Thanks, Nancy

    My Mom has

My mother has had them. She had a series of 3 that gave her about 6 months of relief. One of the 3 injections was very painful. Enough so that she was very worried about her knee replacement surgery. She now says that that 1 injection hurt more than any part of recovering from her surgery.

    I've had them.

Given in a series of three injections,Hyalgen (also goes by the name Synvisc) is made from rooster combs and was originally a treatment for racehorses. It's an artificial form of synovial fluid, the fluid normally produced by your body to lubricate joints
Because there's no way to keep the fluid localized for any length of time they're basically an expensive placebo.

I wouldn't bother again. Now I just concentrate on building muscle surrounding the knee joint.
