    Strange sunday sightings

A 3.4m high Sandstone archways Vs Army Truck.
Which comes of better? Definitely not the archway.

There's an archway at the entrance of the North Head scenic reserve (Sydney). Once I'm in the reserve, there's hardly any traffic so it makes for safe riding. So there I was around lunchtime, ready for a nice spin, having just ridden under the arch.
There was an army truck 50 metres or so behind me. Then I heard a loud noise. The front of the truck got thru alright, the back of it didn't.

The top of the arch was destroyed, there was big crack down one side & big slabs of rock all over the road and the back of the truck.
I reckon the driver is going to get in big trouble with his boss later on.

1/2 hour later - the police had arrived & there was a group of tourists & locals with cameras in their hand, gawking at the destruction.
I saw a professional photographer, so I reckon there'll be a picture of it in the local paer next week.

I do enjoy living in Sydney - it's never boring.

Oh, and while riding earlier I stopped at a few lights with a woman cyclist, whom I happened to meet on the NSW Big Ride. I didn't remember her right away (I hadn't seen her in bike clothes before) but then she said "I know you -we spoke together on the restday". It's a small world isn't it.

Yep it is. Yesterday, Silver was at a class at the YMCA with someone she didn't recognize that we rode with for about 20 miles last week! Folks look different without head gear on.

On the sandstone arch...was this destruction of a natural arch or a manmade one. I'd be bummed if it was natural.

It always amazes me how some drivers don't know the height and width of their vehicles

Methinks that driver is in deep doo-doos!

We have a bridge here which holds the record for the bridge most hit by lorries in the world (I think) but definitely the record for the UK. This is despite MANY warning signs, both visual and audible.

We have drivers here that must have taken the same correspondance driving school! There's a bridge that has clearly posted hight limits - three different ones depending on which lane you're in - and it's amazing how many large trucks bash into the lowest, bus only, crossing. The latest trailer was recently hauled off from the near by wrecked vehicle impound yard.

And guys say we cant judge sizes my *&&.

Too bad no pics to prove it. Twice in a row, I've gone to local hardware/garden store to pick up some compost for my yard. There we were, waiting to pick up our load of compost. The guy in front of me has one of those big honking SUV's

The store guys using a fork lift brings out a giga-enormous box. Patio furniture set the first round. The driver of SUV's going "It'll fit!!" OH MY!!! maybe with sprinkling of some magic dust from Alice in Wonderland. We got our stuff and left before it was resolved.

Second time we were there to get additional compost. Yet another SUV with male driver. Come to think about it he too was getting a patio set. "It'll fit!!" RIGHT!!! we got our compost and left again. My housemate and I just can't figure how two grown men can't figure that there monster SUV isn't big enough for a patio sets.

    OK, I'll come clean!

Before the birth of SilverDaughter 16 years ago, I'm struggling to assemble the crib in the living room where there was more room.

Silver comes home, takes one look, and says "that's not going to fit through the bedroom door".

My response??? Well, I continue what I'm doing because I know it will fit.

20 minutes later, I'm disassembling the crib because
