At least you weren't a poet...striking fear into hearts of many with our mighty pen.

Yeah. And in high school I was a Lambkin. Nice. Embarassed on both accounts.

Dogs have masters, cats have staff.

However if you're my dog, it appears to be both!

An Aggie is a person who attended A & M uni(tech?) in texas. AggieAmma went there. (Yes, i am paying attention!)

-Coben (IL) Appleknockers- umm oh dear..

    What is an Aggie? ME!

An Aggie is term for people who attend agricultural schools. The A&M in Texas A&M University stands for Agricultural and Mechanical. I guess it is kind of like a farmer, at A&M we have a yell (kind of like a cheer) called "Farmers Fight".

Not all land grant or A&M schools are Aggies, NM State is a Land Grant School (same as Texas A&M) and they are Aggies too. OK State is a land grant and they are the Cowboys. VT Tech is a land grant and they are Hokies. I could go on if I kept googling.

    CC- You are paying attention.

Hey, Okra is spiny, sticky icky when raw, slimy when boiled & tasty when fried! We do okay for a small state university. Last fall we beat my sister's much larger university (Stephen F. Austin State in Nacogdoches, TX, the lumberjacks- their mascot is Ax-some Jack. Their enrollment is about 12K, ours is 4K).

A vegetable with boxing gloves and a mean look on its face. It is scary. I stand corrected

I suppose they are all better than the Harvard Crimson. The mascot is a color?

Hey Hub - I didn't see this post when I posted my reply. What dept are you in? I just moved from Cleveland to Baton Rouge. Too bad we didn't get together when I was up there - I was always looking someone to ride with.

I know about those okra... get 'em fried at The Hollywood in Robinsonville, Miss. Remember Marc Cohn singing about that place? It really is great.

Grew up in the Miss Delta, from Memphis down to Arkabutla and eventually Greenville. Still got "kin" in all three places. Escaped to the Wild West of Wyoming and it's hard to imagine going back (heat, mosquitoes, a wee bit of a crazy class system )

I'm the features editor at a small (but sorta famous in the industry) weekly newspaper. The best part of my job is writing, editing and publishing great features. But I also am the traditional "society editor" writing about whose kids made the honor roll, what those cute lil' cub scouts are up to this week and having to try to console people submitting obituaries.

If I were working in Misssissippi, I'd also be writing about debutante balls.
