I am training hard for a tri, and I had a really unmotivated day last week. Just bag the day, and pick it up the next day. It is normal.

another grey day and not overly "enthusiatic" but got some sleep and had a weird dream that involved BIG bikes and heavy winds blowing over the BIG bikes ... well actually they were LITTLE bike frames on REALLY BIG wheels ... woke-up before the "story ended" ... not sure what all that means![]()
anyway, relieved to hear feeling down is normal (you would THINK i would know that) -- although a very odd feeling -- not that i am always up, but feeling so low scared me ... i do have things on my mind and i didn't eat well yesterday because of my "mood", so i think i will put my bike on trainer today because it rained last night and the roads are "yuck" and the skies are grey ... maybe a little activity will get me going again ...![]()

Could it be stress related? I get that way if there's too much going on, I just kind of shut down and do nothing but then feel like I should have done something so I feel guilty.
What I do about it is think "ok, today is a day I do nothing but relax" or I say that my exercise for that day will be going for a walk.
I agree that if it extends out, that might be a problem but for now, enjoy the excuse for house confinement and do something you always wanted to do but never had the time![]()
I think you are having problems with the guiltiness of having an unmotivated day and with the fact that you did not accomplish what you had in mind at the beginning. I believe is perfectly normal every once in a while, the problem start when you feel like that for weeks...then you have to look for help.
I got those days sometimes, but I try to let it go, relax, and accept that sometimes I have to release the pressure by just doing "nothing", and feels good too!
Oh Bat! I had no idea you were feeling down. The weather is definitely not an "upper" the last couple of days, but it will get better. The weekend is supposed to be beautiful. Maybe when the sun peeks through again you will feel better. I hope so! Hey, throw your bike in the car next week and drive up the road to ride a SHORT, FLAT ride with a friend.....we can pick each other up!
Meanwhile, a friend sent the following to me & it made me smile:
Look at the photos and pick which ones depict what you like best. This is amazingly accurate and revealing. http://dna.imagini.net/friends/![]()
Feel better, Bat!

well it looked like the rain was about to clear -- actually saw rays of sunlight, so got the bike ready for an outdoor ride ... i guess i took too long ... it started to rain ... i waited for it to clear ... the roads got wetter ... i took the bike to the trainer ... i rode it for an hour ... the sun came out and the rain stopped ... i did my duty, i got the sun to come out! ... my ride was over ... i think i feel better![]()
note to IFjane: wish i could meet you to ride next weekend but not going to work for me ... kid stuff, DH stuff, and Central VA Bike Festival prep work ... i do hope you feel well enough to ride next weekend without me!! boy, would that be super!!![]()
