a new '06 Giant TCR CW!I had been researching and test riding anything I could get my butt on all spring, as I had 'outgrown' my Specialized Dulce Elite. Don't get me wrong, the Dulce is a great bike, she taught me a lot. But as I have been doing longer and longer rides, the more it became apparent that I needed to get a better bike for what I wanted to do. I researched carbon versus aluminum versus steel, I researched the triple versus double debate, but most importantly, I went back through my ride journals and researched how I ride. I came to the conclusion that a carbon bike with a double chain ring would be the way to go.
Chris, the wrench at the LBS (Bob's, Kano!), was great to work with. He patiently answered my questions and didn't mind making small tweaks here and there when I came back in a few times from test riding the bike. What was nice was finding that they take care of adjustments and maintenance for a year! Sweet!
Of course I took it out for a spin when I got home. Sheesh, what a smooth, comfortable ride!

Tater,
Since you were upgrading from a Specialized bike, I'm assuming you test-rode others (maybe even the Ruby). What made the difference for you in going with the Giant TCR? Was it the fit or something else? I'm in the test-ride stage myself. Last weekend was Cannondale and Specialized. I will be looking at Trek's and Giant's this weekend. If you wouldn't mind posting your personal opinions on pros and cons of some of the other bikes you test-rode before deciding on this one, that would be great.
Thanks, and congrats on the new bike! I hope it serves you well.

Hey.. what does CW mean and what's the specs of the bike? Just curious.
Edit - NM. Went to the Giant site. Nice. What's really cool is that Giant's women's bikes are designed with the help of women who ride. And 2 of them are from a local bike shop here in Northern California. Double woot.

Roguedog, don't you mean double woof ?![]()
The W stands for Women's, but I'm not sure if the C stands for Carbon or Compact.
Very nice looking bike. You know what they say, when you have money and are shopping, you can't find anything. Its when you didn't plan on buying something. Hey, if you didn't buy it now, it would just cost $$$ more when you bought it later. Anyways, looks like a nice purchase.

Congrats!! I did something similar a couple weeks ago. I went to Ladies Night at my LBS, thinking that I'd listen to the presentation (given by Trek) get some free goodies and MAYBE buy a pair of gloves or a jersey. Instead I bought my first road bike, a Specialized Dolce!!![]()
