    I totally agree Ruth!

I think having to be IN there when it was dark and smelling like it would that late in the day... would make me even more sick!

You were nice Denise... I would have been puking on the side of the road for all to see.

Me too! No way would I be puking in a Porta Potty

Just making it as far as you did was a huge accomplishment, especially with those winds! Good for you for knowing when to call it quits.

Well done, Denise! You are such a trooper. I can't believe you ran 17.6 miles puking!!! You are so determined and so strong, and you should be so proud of yourself - and RECOVER.

    You are an IronWoman.

    I second the wow.

I don't know how you got through that ride. I know it's such a difficult decision to DNF but everyone is so right, you have to listen to and respect your body.

Video was awesome! The whole thing, though, looks so painful!!

Take care of yourself - you went through a lot.

You are so awesome. I can't imagine the will and determination you must have, not only to train for this event, but then to keep going in that wind. They should give you all medals for riding in that wind, nevermind the running. And then for you to keep going, running another 17+ miles (while puking!), I think that makes you a hero. Well done. And well done for being smart enough to stop when you knew you should. You're such a wonderful inspiration to so many. Take care during your recovery.

    From Laura

    Denise,
First, so glad to meet you on Friday night. You have such a great attitude towards training and racing. Second, don't beat yourself up for your decision...sometimes you have to live to fight another day. The IM is not goind anywhere.

For me, it was a really tough day too. I got a lot more respect from the race yesterday and resolved (like you) to improve significantly on the swim before I attempt a full IM again. I actually ran the whole run and I have a whole black toe, not just toe-nail, today. I am hurting so much worse than last year; and I will be taking at least a year off before another full IM. I am going to do some half-IMs next year and focus on the swim.

Just take care of yourself and recover; dont' rush back to training too quick b/c your body is really beat up. Take pride in sticking it out as long as you did, and I know you can do it again!

    best wishes,
    Laura

    Smile Hi Laura!

It was a brutal day out there huh? But you did GREAT!! I was looking for you in the morning, but I didn't see you.
I was looking at the pics from the race and I had such promise when I went out on that bike! In fact I told the strippers that the hard part was done! SHEESH!! What did I know!!
I had posted in another thread how nice it was to meet you and your sweetie pie mom. She has such poise and grace. And you sure take after her!!
Hopefully we can meet up again soon. Are you going to be doing SOMA in the fall?
I think the only race that I really have on the radar right now is the Sahuarita sprint on memorial day weekend. I need to plan out some more races though.
Again, great race! Recover up and hope to see you soon!
    Denise
