    I mostly use my road bike and my beater bike (an old touring bike I got at a yard sale). I have a mountain bike (used to ride off road--one concusion later + five stitches + one VERY upset little 5 year old girl put an end to off road for a while!).

    If you are going to be commuting with the bike, why not look at a touring bike? gives you the benefits of road bike with a more upright position of a hybrid. bianchi makes a great touring, the model is called the "volpe."

    keep us posted!

    I have a...

    road race bike;

    time trial bike;

    mountain bike;

    I also want to have a training bike, and probably in the next year or two a bike specifically for commuting to work (that is if I am still at work and haven't retired early to cycle more...)

    I have a road bike and a hybrid, but my son just took my hybrid to college, so it is a good thing I'm mostly a road rider.

    I ride road and mountain - have a 2002 Lemond Zurich for road and a Specialized M4 Stumpjumper hardtail and Santa Cruz Superlight for mountain. I divide my time between both passions, although in the last couple of years have been doing more mountain. Just something about the challenge of climbing and descent, the beautiful scenary, possibility of seeing animals and no cars appeals to me.

    Re Hybrid: To me those are road comfort bikes. They are OK on bike trails and street but really have no use on most mountain bike trails. Not enough suspension and geometry's all wrong.

    Decide on what you'll like to do and then buy the proper bike. There really is no bike built for both activities. My road bike and mountain bikes are night and day from each other - for a reason. If you buyt he hybird you will find yourself limited in what you can do for wither road or mountain.

    technically I have 2 bikes, but does it really count if you only really ride 1 bike?!

    1 road bike ... that I ride
    1 hardtail mt bike ... that I don't ride except on RARE occassions

    I have a hybrid, as I mostly ride paved trails that are in need of repair in various areas. However, I've been pondering the practicality of fixing up one of my parents' old road bikes and trying it out, just to see if I might like it and if a road bike would be a worthwhile investment.

    I have a 7500FX which is, essentially, a flat-bar road bike 'cause I've got skinny tyres on it. It's more upright and more comfortable for me.

    I do most of my miles on the Xtracycle, though, which is a hybrid "long bike."

    I also have a Dutch commuting bike (very much comfort bike) and an old Schwinn Racer one-speed (I wouldn't call it a cruiser 'cause it's geared for riding hard, but it's also got upright-riding handlebars).

    If I were to get picked to be one of hte five "women who ride" by Trek (long odds, I'd say ) then I'd hope to try a WSD road bike... but I think I'd be partial to moustache handlebars regardless.

    I have a hybrid. It's good for riding the country roads as well as paved. I want to get a road bike some day. I dream of riding faster and besides they look so cool. It's so hard to choose one though! I have to save up anyway.
