    May SS - UPDATE

    To disable ads, please log-in.

Since there seems to be several who are interested lets run with this and enjoy ourselves in May.

A couple of people have already sent me their names and addresses. If you want to participate please send this information. You might also want to include T-shirt size.

I'll start working on this next week given it is my spring break.

I'm going to set the deadline for April 21st so that I can get information out the following week.

I'd also like to play SS again! Count me in!! Local flavor is a great theme, too!

And, since it's spring and people are starting to bike again (and join our forum again), I'd like to make a suggestion based on my experience with organizing last September.

Background: There were a few ladies who did not receive a SS package in September. In all but one case, when I researched who the sender was...it was someone who had posted a couple of times in August, joined the SS, and then was never heard from again.

To perhaps avoid those types of 'fly by' members, should we say that you need at least 50 posts before you can participate? I don't think this would exclude anyone who has already expressed interest in May, but perhaps it will give new members a chance to get to know us first? I don't know...just a thought. It's ok to tell me to get lost if I'm speaking out of turn here!

I just felt so badly for those people in September when I was the organizer!

You guys decide what you want the requirements to be - I'm happy to organize it but not up to making any rules at this point (I do enough of that every day in my classroom so my energy levels are quite low this time of year).

For those who have not yet received gifts please let the person who organized it know. I know they can't force the person to send a package but they can send a friendly reminder. I know I sent out a couple of notes in January asking if gifts had been received (senders were worried since they had not see a post or received a PM thanking them) some responded others blew me off but at least I knew I had sent the note. Several of the people who participated in the January SS also sent me notes asking me to let their SS know they had not forgotten their SS they were simply running behind in getting their package mailed. I have a feeling there are always going to be some who expect to received a box but don't feel an obligation to mail one. Maybe we need to organize a list of people who shaft others and those individuals need to excluded. Just my thoughts for whatever they are worth.

Sadly, the month I organized there were two non-senders. One owned up that she was having difficulty and eventually sent something. The other NEVER responded to my PM. It was not a new member either.

I would think it was fair to share the name of someone you know never sent anything to the coordinator. They should not be able to participate if they can't even answer a PM and say they fell on hard times or whatever. I am only talking about one of my two, the other was adult about it.

    Those who don't "fully" participate

I hate to put more work on those that coordinated SS in the past, but maybe you could put a list together of the non-senders and only share it with coordinators. That way a pattern may emerge, but no one else will know who it was. Things happen and if it's a one-time thing, then it should slide but if someone receives more than once and doesn't send, then they shouldn't be allowed to participate any more. I haven't mentioned it before, but my February SS was a no-show. Now my January SS, im4smiley, sent me enough for MONTHS!lol I may have to dig out the "keep warm" stuff again this weekend.sigh.:

I'm in too for May SS

I'd also like to add, that my first SS thing was somehow unusual. I PM to the person who organized it (can't remember now who that was) but I received no message back. So, of course, I thought that I wouldn't be in that SS turn. A month or two later I received a wonderful gift and I was completely surprised and thrilled about it. IT was my first package from America and I received sooooo many adorable things, so I wrote "thank you reply" to TE board and I also wrote that I haven't received SS name for that month but still haven't received any PM from the person who organized it. So you see, sometimes it's just stupid confusion, or perhaps in your case, the package was lost along the way and nothing else. I really can't believe that there are persons here who wouldn't sent one little thing. If there are some, than they should really be ashamed .

Now that I've heard that my Feb gift finally arrived, and since I'll be in CA in May/June and can send and receive there ... I'm in for another go.

I'm too disorganized and scatterbrained to do SS, so I don't. Cuz I'd end up on the Naughty List.

I still need to send Limewave my cowboy boots and OTG some gluten-free mix.

    I'm baaaaaaad.....
