"Being retired from Biking...isn't that kinda like being retired from recess?" Stephen Colbert asked of Lance Armstrong
What a great century as you not only road the 102 miles, but you enjoyed your surroundings while doing it. You just have to love rides like that.
Was this organized or you did it on your own?
They just made a new route on the South Shore of Long Island that is 75+, not that you have to do all of it as you can start in any town. So a self supported century is now duable in my area. I just hope it goes through enough towns so we can use restrooms.

Joann, I mostly followed a ride that is marked off by the local club. It's basically a conbination of several shorter rides that I'm a little familiar with. I did go on my own. It's mostly rural roads but goes through little towns about every 15 to 20 miles. So there's a gas station and potty in each one.
I did hit a closed road and had to walk the bike over a muddy ditch, but fortunately didn't get the bike muddy.![]()

You know Silver, it wasn't until seeing your post that a self supported centry or metic century was possible for Long Islander's. The route was just completed about a month ago. It must run through towns also as they say people of the option of taking the Long Island Rail Road back should they decide not to ride back and it can be picked up at various different part of the route.
Now I will just wait to get some of the beautiful blue skies that you had. We are now back to winter weather through the weekend. ugh (and pouring rain today)
However, thank you for planting the seed in my head. I will post when we give this new route a try

Congratulations on your april century. You are amazingbeing able to recover from your accident so quickly. I'm eagerly anticipating warmer weather to rack up a few miles.
