So, I haven't had my hair cut in YEARS. I usually put it in a bun and tuck it through my helmet. So, my mother says, go treat yourself get your hair cut and colored before you go to Mexico on vacation while I watch the baby. Plus I thought with summer coming it may be eaiser to just put it in a ponytail when I ride...right???
WRONG!
Here I sit, after having to recut my own hair, and I went from a fairly long couple inches past my shoulders to now a chin length bob that I can't even get in a ponytail!!It keeps flying out of my helmet and I am just sick about it. After I recut it, it looks cute, but it hasn't been this short in years, my husband is still in shock, not to mention $100 later I'm sick.
NEVER go to a hairdresser that is going through a nasty divorce, has on a bluetooth in her ear and is arguing with her soon to be ex-husband while chopping away at my hair.
Sorry, I will just continue to cut my own hair, and find other ways to "pamper" like ride my bike!!It's safer that way!!
Thanks for listening....![]()

Sorry about that
I have found out that a slightly longer bob is the most helmet-friendly cut though. It's long enough to tie in two ponytails - one on each side (is that what you call pigtails?) so it also makes me recognizable from behind. And it's a charm to manage.
I indeed would have ran away from your stylist. What a pain!!
Shorter hair's not for everyone, but man, it is SO much easier to take care of. I have kind of a small head/face, so I found that longer hair made me look too drowned or covered. But yes, the good news, it will grow back if you are unhappy. But I understand--I've had my fair share of bad cuts![]()
I know how bad a bad haircut can make you feel! i have short bob like hair right now too. But I like it and have found many ways to tame it. First in your helmit, try a band of some sort to pull it back. I use a bandana in mine as well as a buff http://www.terrybicycles.com/detail.html?item_no=1718. It works well for that situation. And if you want to pull your hair away from your face I use not sure what they are called.....they are like two claws that are spring loaded and grab the hair? But anyway they work well for me. But I have super thick hair too so... I don't know what kind of hair you have.
I am lucky I have a really good hair dresser! She is hip and knows her stuff. She is always taking classes to learn new stuff. I am lucky. And it does cost a lot to get your hair done these days. Mine always cost $110. + tip. But she takes care of me. I hope you went back to your s and told her you were not happy? you didn't recut it yourself did you?
Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape.

I know going through a divorce it tough, but it's very unprofessional that she was on her phone, much less that she was arguing with her ex when her focus should have been on you. And I'm sorry to hear about your bad haircut. I've had a few of those so I understand how you're feeling. Even though you know it'll grow back it's still really hard to get over it. My worst experience was when I went in for a cut and a body wave. I came out with a fro and severe chemical burns on my scalp and neck. I can look back now and giggle a little at the image I must of made. Little Asian chick with really nappy/puffy hair. But I remember how angry I was at the time because I informed the stylist about how easily my hair perms before the procedure. And the fact she didn't listen when I told her my scalp was BURNING!![]()
Hair grows back, so try not to stress out about it. I bet you look beautiful.
I have a bob that ranges from chin-length to below my shoulders (I'm letting it grow again). I use a buff to keep it tame under my helmet--works even when it's short. Also, a plus--it doesn't damage your hair and will protect your color from the sun (assuming you color your hair). On hot days, I've tucked it all under the buff so my neck is bare. The buff will wick sweat during the summer and keep you warm in the winter.
OH, trust me, I am laughing now, because I know it's just hair, it didn't bother me so much that she butchered it, it was more of the fact that I paid $100 for her to do it! I did a better job cutting it by myself with some cheap scissors and a compact mirror....haha![]()
I HAVE to admit though it is WAY easier to get finished by the time my 1 year old has trashed the house and terrorized the dog.....I may just keep it this way for the summer. Thank you for all the ideas for the bands, to just pull my hair back, going tomorrow to get one!!
They were calling me "Spike" in my spinning class this morning, because that is what it looks like sticking out of the back of my head....hahahaa
I've had one of those cuts before...and colors (where it looks so bad you think you're dreaming, but you look again and you're not).
Glad you found your happy place with your new hair, enjoy it!
Jenn, that's terrible, but glad you've got a sense of humour about it!
Any chance you can get your money back? I surely would not want to pay that kind of money for that!!
I'm still getting used to my shorter hair....thanks for the reminder about pigtails, Grog, I can think I can do those now!
