Any recommendations on where to buy swim suits?
I'm not into the slinky stuff. I'm actually going to use it and want things to stay um.. secure. Looking for a tankini so when I go on my grand canyon trip it'd be more practical.
So far I've looked at Victoria's Secret, swim outlet, kohls, eddie bauer, nordies, title nine...
Leaning towards one made my Tyr and surprisingly one at Victoria's Secret. Just afraid the latter is made more for show than actual use. Any other recommendations taken!

Land's end!
I have both an LL Bean and a Lands End tankini, both stay put (I water ski with them) and look good.

I don't like the bras LL Bean and Lands' End put in their suits. I don't find them nearly supportive enough and they feel weird to me. The cut of the bottoms also bothers me and makes me feel fat.
I prefer TYR or Speedo suits for my water sports - dinghy boat sailing, snorkeling, lap swimming, etc. While they don't have the built in bra, the material of the suit is supportive enough for my needs.
Title Nine has some really cute looking Tankinis and two piece suits. Some of them are TYR. I've also ordered suits directly off the Speedo site.

I order mine from Speedo.

My daughter has a couple of suits from Title Nine and I have some of their apparel. A little pricey but everything we've gotten there is beautifully made.
For my swimsuits, I prefer Eddie Bauer. But most of my clothes are Eddie Bauer so.... not sure how objective I am![]()
I have some of the Target brand C9 swimsuits - I use them for lap swimming and haven't had any problems. And if you catch it right, you can get them for under $10.
Love Speedos.

I like Jcrew - their bottoms are flattering (the "regular" bikini bottoms, not the low-rise or the full-coverage "briefs," which are like granny panties), and the fabric they use has a bit more cotton so it is matte rather than shiny, which I like for some reason. Probably not as durable as a Tyr or Lands End, but more cute and feminine :-). You can also mix and match - I bought one pair of bottoms and then a tankini top and a bikini top that both match, so I have a full-coverage option and a laying-on-the-beach option.
I agree that Lands' End bottoms are unflattering. But I am a twentysomething so I guess I have a generational bias - they are still "mom suits" to me.
Ditto what Mimi said- Land's End
you can mix and match tops and bottoms- and you usuallyhave several choices for each- I really love their skirted swimsuit bottoms. A traditional swimsuit bottom with loose shorts made over them- both are made of the
printed fabric- very comfy!
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.
Speedo!
The brighter and more obnoxious the print, the better.
Tyr seems to have a lot of cute bikinis/tankinis too. I'd be too self conscious to workout in these though!
In addition to www.speedousa.com and www.tyr.com, check out www.swimoutlet.com. Much better prices and a pretty good selection.
I get mine online from Kiefer.
I would like to second J.Crew. I've always had luck with their suits.
And I just saw some really cute, functional ones at Athleta, though I haven't ordered any yet to comment on fit or quality.

anyone order from swimoutlet? was looking at their site and found a tyr suit that seemed cute.. except for the big a$$ flower on the butt.Figure I can wear board shorts anyway...
Man, talk about putting something to focus on the thing your don't want focus on...
Oh and btw, I'm usually a non two piece person but for practicality purposes of being on the river, functionality won out. Wouldn't want to scare the big horn sheep or whatever else lives out there
I'll check out Jcrew and Kiefer..
