So, by 6PM I was on the road. Went 20 miles at avg of 15 mph. All terrain. Bloomington is a BEAUTIFUL place to ride!
My first time with clips, but I didn't fall or have any near disasters.
I love the tiagra shifters because they have a little indicator that indicates the gear, so I don't have to look down to check my gear.
I may still get wider handlebars, since I feel 'pinched' between my shoulder blades, as with SilverSon's Pilot.
So, now I have a Blue Zoom Zoom to go along with my Red Zoom Zoom! Yeah!

That's a beautiful bike!
“Hey, clearly failure doesn’t deter me!”
Congratulations, Mr. S! What a beauty! Looking forward to pics of your actual bike!
IMHO, I would think pinching between the shoulder blades would be bars that are already too wide, thus squeezing those muscles back there together and keeping them tight.... I could be wrong, but I'd think to try narrower first....Can you try another set on a different bike and see how that feels?
Have tons of fun on your new girl!!

lovely new bike, congrats!
Hmmm....I hadn't considered that. It feels the opposite while I'm riding, but now I'm reconsidering...IMHO, I would think pinching between the shoulder blades would be bars that are already too wide, thus squeezing those muscles back there together and keeping them tight....

When I was just starting to ride I kept tensing my shoulders up and when I realized that I had to work diligently on keeping them down and relaxed. I rarely hunch/tense them now, but once in a while i catch myself.![]()

It's also ery important to make sure that your elbows are slightly flexed at all times. This helps to keep your shoulders from scrunching up and back. it also absorb shock so your wrists, elbows, shoulders etc don't get jarred and sore.
Congrats on the new bike. It's a be-ute.

Congrats on the new bike -- it's such a great feeling, isn't it? I can't see the pic because the site's blocked, but I bet it's wonderful.

"Keep plugging along. The finish line is getting closer with every step. When you see it, you won't remember that you are hurting, that anything has gone wrong, or just how slow or fast you are.
You will just know that you are going to finish and that was what you set out to do."

Very pretty. I wouldn't rush into any changes right away. Check your form first. The change to drop bars can be pretty big too.
Are you going to name it?
Thanks for the feedback. Tonight I did 20 miles paying more attention to my elbows and shoulders. Much Much Better!![]()
