I did a little recovery ride today, my favorite short route by the llama farm. Mama Llama was not in the front pasture so I did not get to stop and chat with her.
Toward the end I took a jaunt through the oval at the park. Lots of little people with training wheels out there. Cute, but nary a helmet in site.
Dropped my chain once. Jaunt through the park messed up my time but was very pleasant. 17.36 mi.

Did just under 25 miles on the same horribly wet roads as Deb! Couldn't avoid some of the puddles. We raised my seat a mm and took off the seat bag and were able to get the fender on my bike. So, no racoon stripe. But, I was splattered everywhere else. We tested a new part of a route we are going to lead on the 24th. Road through Great Brook Farm, feeling weird that I was skiing here 3 weeks ago.
I won't even say what my average was. I'm having some residual wheezing issues from bronchitis, so until I see my specialist this Friday, I'm not doing anything too crazy. It was nice out, but very gusty winds at one point.
I probably will ride tomorrow after work. Thank you, Daylight savings Time!

YEAH!!!! did our "first ride of the season" too- at least the first one that felt vaguely like Spring.
About 38 degreesF BALMY and had to ride over some ice patches on the way to breakfast in town. But by the time breakfast had finished the ice was mostly gone and we did our usual 21 mile ride. FUN, and so good to be back riding without freezing our fingers and toes for a change. We both got some mud stripes up the backsides and had to hose our bikes off at home. We actually needed a nap afterwards. I love the weekends.
....And now here it is 6pm and it's still sunny out! Yay for daylight savings time!

I had a committee meeting for my church this afternoon, so I had squeeze in a ride. I need to do some more hill training for my 300k, so i headed off to baldy Village, I only got as far as the tunnels (about 3 miles and 1,000 foot shy) I was running short on time, and the wind was still blowing at Santa Ana speed over the mountains from the Desert(it got worse the higher you went), and I wasn't i sure if restaurant we were meeting had a place where I could stash my bike, so I headed home. Turns out I probably could have rode over. Thought about going afterwards, but it's 93 degrees

It was my first ride of the season too. I wasn't quite ready to pull the road bike off the trainer as I plan to still ride it in the morning for a few more weeks. So, I rode my mntn bike on the road for ten miles. Then I went for a 5k run.
I felt like I could have ridden forever, it was great. In fact, I would have rode longer but my saddle needs to be adjusted.
Thursday is our first group ride. I haven't decided yet if I want to go. I'm usually the only woman that shows up. I can barely hang on when I"m at my best. This early in the season, I have a feeling its only going to be the die-hards that show up. I don't want to get dropped on my first ride. But, I really miss riding with the group too. Decisions . . . decisions . . .

DH and I did a 16.4 mile "recovery ride" out to Route 108 and back. I say "recovery" b/c we're honestly a couple of slackers who slept late with this Spring-ahead time change and didn't want to do too much! "Recovery ride" sounds so much nicer than "lazy sack o' bones".
I think I would say the wind was about 17 mph, because we had a yucky headwind going out, then turning around, got up to 17 mph, and it felt like we weren't moving at all. No wind on our faces until we hit 20 or so. Was the weirdest thing. But it was wonderful to have a brisk tailwind for the ride home.

Ride
I rode 29 miles this morning against some heavy ,but warm headwinds. I think I finally got it. No falls ,and I don't have a death grip on my handlebars. I think it took 2 weeks of just not riding at all. I'm not scared of the bike, or traffic anymore. I unclip at the stop ,and my foot comes out every time. wooooooooooooooo whooooooooooooooo I have great balance ,and now I'm just waiting for my Brooks B17 saddle to arrive ,so I can break that in

Michael and I took a nice 32.5 mile ride this morning. We tried a new route that had some beautiful scenery and some flat areas (
). It was supposed to have been a 50-miler, but the headwinds sucked me dry and I had to call it a day early. This was my first full week on the road (and off the trainer!). I rode a total of 101.5 miles this week. Not a bad start!
Hoping to get a 50-miler in next week.
