The only thing I can think of would be the great green wonder can: Bag Balm. Not sure if it would cause your face to break out, however. A little can go a long way so is should be used sparingly. It my be worth a shot.

Dermatone is great. It's nice and greasy so it provides an effective layer that prevents both wind and sun burn. It's convenient to carry (a small tin), and it really helped me when I recently spent a week in the Egyptian desert (both wind and sun). Anything that's too much of a liquid is absorbed fairly quickly, whereas the thicker the product, the longer it stays on my face. My 3 cents.
would aquaphor work? You would need to wash it off once you got in tho. But it would make a nice shield. While I swear by bag balm for the nether regions, I couldn't imagine putting it on my face. It has an odd odor. Actually reminds me of growing up on our family dairy farm- where we actually used it as it was intended!![]()
I use Aquaphor all the time for my lips and the skin between them and my nose. Unfortunately, a course of Accutane in my 30s left me with perpetually dry lips. Amazingly, it doesn't break me out.
Thanks for the suggestions, ladies! I was assuming that something with a lanolin base, as Lisa S.H. suggested, would be more effective than a regular moisturizer, but I certainly don't want to end up breaking out from whatever I use. The Dermatone sounds interesting, especially since there are versions that are combined with sunscreen. And, I have a little sample tube of Aquaphor that I keep by my kitchen sink. I'll have to try both of those. I dunno about the Bag Balm, though![]()
Any other recommendations out there still?

Random babblings and some stuff to look at.
When I ride I use a sunscreen from DHC. They have stores on the West Coast, but I have to mailorder. It's 25 and I have worn it in some pretty good winds (like yesterday) and realized it has protected me from windburns when you mentioned it.
I use Kiehls All-Sport "Non-Freeze" Face Protector SPF 30, year round.
