up and running. OK I am running TE with no problems now. Circuit city reset to all factory setting, removed all scripts and admin rights. So I am good.

That's good news, logdiva! Do you know the details of what CC did - what scripts they removed? - what the factory settings are? I already have admin rights.

Q: Where did you purchase from? Can you take it back and have it checked?

I bought mine from Circuit City also. It wasn't a display model, but who knows what might have been done to it. Yeah, I guess I need to make a return trip.

that is a interesting coincidence. Ask them to check the scripts, and reset everything, be sure to back up data before taking it in. They took care of mine for free. Kept it overnight though. Good Luck

I stumbled across a fix while upgrading the OS -- the McAfee Redirector service was causing the problem on my laptop. I haven't found any good information on what this service does, but turning it off hasn't caused any problems, and I can now use TE.
