You don't say whether you are overweight or not. I lost 25 lbs and gained some muscle in my legs over the past year of walking and biking. Since I had excess fat in my hips and legs, I have noticed the inner thighs has definitely slimmed down and there is a lot of space between them now not like before. I like that! The backs and the tops of my thighs definitely have more muscle than they used to, and my calves. ...Not that I look like an athlete or anything, far from it.

If only I'd known- I would have started cycling AGES ago if I could develop a butt- I don't just have a small bum- I have NO bum- I'm like that poor pathetic girl in the dressing room- I feel sorry for my bum too- I think that is why I maried DH- he has a magnificent bum. OTOH.....
I think if I were to get a prize it would be for wearing my Levis backwards and not being able to tell!
Wahine- or shall we say Queen Debonkadonk- Cycle on.....

Well, after 6 years of cycling, my bum is a lot smaller, but still loose and flabby. I think it would take a lot more than the amount of training I want to do, to get it any better. I think genetics plays a large part here. At least I don't have to buy a bigger pair of pants and take the waist in anymore.
My bum is broken...it has a big crack in it!

In answer to LisaSH. I'm not really overweight, though if I lost 6 or 7 kgs I'd be happy. I'm hoping to increase my riding time now that the we are entering Autumn. It's been too hot to ride much lately (I'm a bit of a sap). High 30's and low 40's C temps do put me off somewhat.
As I said before, my legs are much stronger, but no visible shape change is evident, although they could be a trifle more toned now. I check them out in the mirror every now and then to see if they've changed. Recently changed the height of my seat and have noticed muscles complaining above the knee now. I'd been riding with the seat set in one position since I'd bought the bike and thought I'd make a change and see what happened. Am riding a medium men's Avanti hybrid/comfort bike, and it felt OK in the bike shop for my height 5'6". I'm no expert in this, just learning.![]()
P.S. I'm new to the internet world and have only recently joined 2 cycling forums and replying to a thread is very experimental at the moment - so forgive the errors please.
I needed that good laugh!

I like big butts and I can not lie
You other brothers can't deny
That when a girl walks in with an itty bitty waist
And a round thing in your face
You get sp*&#*, wanna pull out your tough
'Cause you notice that butt was stuffed
Deep in the jeans she's wearing
I'm hooked and I can't stop staring
Oh baby, I wanna get wit'cha
And take your picture
My homeboys tried to warn me
But with that butt you got makes me feel so h*&%*
Ooh, Rump-o'-smooth-skin
You say you wanna get in my Benz?
Well, use me, use me
'Cause you ain't that average groupy
I've seen them dancin'
The hell with romancin'
She's sweat, wet,
Got it goin' like a turbo 'Vette
I'm tired of magazines
Sayin' flat butts are the thing
Take the average black man and ask him that
She gotta pack much back
So, fellas! (Yeah!) Fellas! (Yeah!)
Has your girlfriend got the butt? (Hell yeah!)
Tell 'em to shake it! (Shake it!) Shake it! (Shake it!)
Shake that healthy butt!
Baby got back!
Sorry couldn't help myself ladies. And I have been a part of the junk in your trunk club sence i was born. Unfortuantly my Dad called me fat A** most of my teenage years (that is another post another time) I have accepted my butt and now love it!

Brandi - that is so funny. Everytime I look at this thread that son g gets in my head and won't get out. I actually found a youtube anime video to that song and I tried to post a link but it wouldn't work. I think it has something to do with the fact that you have to be 18 to view the video.

My dh cracks up when he hears the song too. He is not into rap but he says there is something about that song?
