    sad to say, no

another rule; if your quads are to weak to "hover' over the seat do some reps on the leg press but sit the &*^% down if you can't aim.

I hate to be the one to take it out of the locker room and into the gym
but what about these guys that groan and groan during and after lifting weights.
I had a groaner on each side of me (three benchs in a row, I was in the middle) both guys were fit looking and both had 35+ pounds of barbells in each hand
(you know, when they put them down the earth shakes) But they kept groaning LOUD.. what's up with that? if it's too hard, lift lighter weights!!!

Mimi, next time you should go get a couple of tiny little weights and start groaning really loudly while you lift them. That should bust a few guts and make them think.

I have a small boy - not so small anymore - and had to go through just this situation: what do you do when you want to go swimming at the indoor pool with your kid, but he's small enough to get seriously worried about going into the mens locker room alone (he was afraid he'd get lost in there ), but big enough that he might offend somebody.

He was about 6 or 7 and pretty clueless about nudity and gawping actually, but especially other girls his age were getting shy.

We solved it this way: I sent him into the mens locker room, reminded him to shower, and promised I'd go straight through and be waiting at the pool door the whole time in case he needed me. He could just crack the door open and ask.

FIVE minutes later, max, a worried, soaking wet small boy came out through the pool door, carrying ALL his stuff. And without a stitch on

Luckily I was there to hustle him back in so he could put on his bathing shorts before he even noticed what he'd done wrong...

Alright, you gals are freaking me out about swimming lessions with my 4yo son. At least all the moms with kids were cool about everyone being in some sort of undress. I think the most uncomfortable one was the high school teachers aid that was changing in the middle of all of us
My son pointing to the other boy: "you're nekkid"
    other boy: "you're nekkid too"
my kid: "you have a weiner"
other kid" "you have a weiner too"

I almost felt sorry for the hs girl But all I could think about after gently reminding my son that it wasn't polite to make comments about other peoples bodies, was how far I've come being comfortable in my own skin, that bike tours and communal showers seemed like a rite of passage, and I hoped this sweet young girl would one day be as comfortable in her own skin, in a full locker room with small children of both sexes grinning like me

FWIW, as a single mom, my son may be 8 before I let him go in the mens locker room alone. I'm terribly protective when it comes to safety. So no chewing me a new anything, ok?? There aren't family changing rooms here.

Well, I guess that there is "potty parity" in the locker room. I though men were the most disgusting...ladies, you've popped my bubble!!!

Having worked as a commercial janitor in many types of public and private locations, I can say that when it comes to toilets and urinals, men take the cake (uh, maybe the urinal cake? ) for grossness. When it comes to the counter and sink areas, women take it, hands down. Just my experience.

Just smell ok, ok? I know that we all *leave* the gym smelling like we've had a good workout, but that doesn't mean that we're not going to notice that you haven't showered in a week.

So far in life, I've do sports activity outdoors....it is rare I use indoor facilities except for whirlpool..and we have them in our building. Yea, I know....

Or I do my simple stretching/yoga/pilates exercises at home.

I'm the sort of person that dresses efficiently when I'm in a communal locker room anyway. Not the sort of person that yaks alot while naked.

Never forget the time when a bunch of women (all in early 20's) peeled off their dirty snowgear in change room at a fancy hotel whirlpool..and left puddles of melted snow, dirt about change room.

Hmmm. Lots to think about here. No, I don't sit bare@ssed on the bench. I make sure the toilet has flushed completely. I'm pretty skilled at using a big towel or roomy t-shirt to cover up while dressing. I deff'nitely don't parade around nekkid! (Pretty shy about nudity now I have an ostomy.) In fact, gym is near home -- one steepish hill climb, over the ridge, then down the other side -- so I generally just pull on a windbreaker over my sweaty gym clothes and shower at home. But as for kids ... You gals should experience the dressing room at the big swim center just over the border north of here. I.e. Sweden. I.e. unisex dressing room, with unisex sauna at one end. So here you are getting into your swimsuit and some nekkid guy wanders by the ends of all the locker rows headed for the sauna
