    Sonoma: Crazy hard ride Sunday?

    To disable ads, please log-in.

Anyone up for a crazy hard ride Sunday out of Sonoma? I am wanting to make up the team ride I missed last week when my chain broke, so a friend and I are doing a make up ride. It's "only" 40 miles, but over Sonoma Mountain Rd. and Trinity Grade with about 4000 feet climbing.

It will be a SLOW ride. I'm doing the 200k on Saturday.

What can I say, my family's out of town, what else am I going to do this weekend? Last time they went out of town, I did a 600k.

Anyone interested, PM me. Ride start at 9 from Sonoma. Self-supported.

LOL - I agree with Jo.
I cant imagine I will want to look at my bike the day after the Brevet never mind get on it.

I think I'll just look at bikes the next day (at the Handmade Bike Show).

It'll be slow. But I have unfinished business with this ride. I was looking forward to it all last week, and then the chain snapped and I was out. So we'll just have a relaxed day. Riding with a teammate who was sick and missed the ride, so she's unsure about how strong she'll be also. It'll be a ramble. A vertical ramble.

It turned out to be a good thing that my chain broke and I brought the bike in, though. Rolf the tall German ex pro turned wrench (who was on some amateur team with Jensbob) was very Teutonically disapproving of some of my component adjustments. So I feel very happy about how my bike is right now.

Torn about which bike to use tomorrow and will probably just go with the Merckx. Packing light.

She says she's going to ride easy. I bet we see her at the beginng and the end only on Sunday.

Happy riding tomorrow SK, JB, TH and MP! I was going to wish you good luck, but you don't need luck. You're all in great shape for this ride. You guys will have a blast tomorrow!

Thanks - and the best thing is that it isn't raining!

No, I need the luck! I think I've ridden once in the last two weeks. Let's just say my legs have gone beyond well-rested. The taper was a bit early.

But I have thrown out and donated a lot of stuff. There is progress in other areas of my life.

Don't forget. The Chief Whiner won't be there so it's all up to me. She's set some high standards.

So you're going to do this the day after the Brevet? 200K in one weekend isn't enough!?! I'm going out of town, so unfortunately I can't join you. Have fun all of you!

Tomorrow? OMG. It's March already?! Have a great day you guys!! And there should be nothing to whine about, so no Chief Whiner will be necessary.

MP - I will categorically not do any ride labelled "crazy hard".

    A Cow Giving Birth...

Or was it a llama giving birth or a crazed bull?

That's the sound your hub makes when it's seizing up. It made for an interesting ride. So glad this didn't happen to MP yesterday on her 200 K, but rather today. It was absolutely bizarre.

We still had a lovely ride up Sonoma Mountain Rd. We decided not to do Trinity in light of the angry bull. And since it was a fun ride (not a training ride) we stopped for coffee and a brownie at a bakery.

Definitely want to do this again.

    V.

Oh Kim - the section we did today wasn't bad, except that section where the road had dropped five or six feet. That was fun riding. Not crazy hard, but it did not include Trinity!

Actually we walked the dropped section. I'd have tried it on my mountain bike.
