you've got a lucky dog, Jennifer!!

2 border collies here. 2 short walks on most days, longer ones when I have time and the weather is nice. both are drawn to swamps and the feces of various animals....(cow is overwhelming, but bear smells worse), so do not have the honour of mountain biking with us any longer. Lucky for them my other passion is taking photos outdoors. many long relaxing (for me, not for them) walks on sunny days!!

Dogs do get you out, don't they? Mine gets a walk 3 or 4 times a day, and when the days get longer, many evening trips to the dog park. And he goes everywhere with us ... he loves geocaching! And I keep telling him if he's a very good boy he'll get a little friend soon ...

That's the reason we have two! we both work full time....so we hope that they play and are entertained with each other when we're not around (and chasing the 2 cats doesn't really count. heehe) Our first 4 legged furry kid passed away from cancer....we got our second just after he was diagnosed and,you know, those last 17 months that he had a buddy, our Yogi was happier than he had ever been. We hadn't realized he was lonely! Now we will never have another lonely only. But it does increase everything....food, time, vet bills, grooming costs, etc....and they don't come with us as often as Yogi used to - you never know when the folks at the other end will have a problem with 2 somewhat good but sometimes a bit wired border collies!! But don't feel bad for them - they do get lots of walks (yes, more when the days are longer, for sure!) and the property across the lane from us is a nice trailed wooded strip of land....they LOVE it!!

get the little buddy. you'll be happy you did!!

it's more a question of real estate than wanting the new pup. The yard isn't THAT big, which is why he gets so many walks (and I do too, walking from work back home at lunch is a nice break).

But soon ... house hunting has begun, and dog-friendly yards are on the top of the list!
