shoes and shorts

Will be doing a very long ride in June. Need good shorts and good shoes. I looked at the PI microsensor short. Are they considered good, not to rub? Any others? Shoes, I have some CATs that are comfy but hear that Sidi make a comfy shoe too. Which model?

I have a pair of the Airstream that Lisa listed above and I really dont like them for rides over about 50 miles however Veronica has them and used them for her double century rides I believe and loved them. Shorts are like saddles etc different for everyone. I guess you will need to try some and see what works for you.
