Denise, I can't believe you rode outside today.... the winds were fierce. I am hoping to get out Sunday, when it will be a toasty 40 degrees.

"just a dumb commute" - which I was really, really glad to be able to do - last week it was just pretty nasty and I don't have those studded tires on yet. The three days we had to go to work (everything shut down Tues and Wednesday - county roads were closed and impassable) I drove, tho' Thurs. and Friday would have been (I think!!) manageable with studded tires... though I want to mess around a little before I head out into traffic... though watching that guy zoom by me the first snowstorm and just have no trouble behind me when I was driving Thursday - on a racing bike!! - ... though I think he must be some kind of super-reflexed male-in-search-of-crazy-adventure, too...

... anyway, I was really glad to just be able to ride in, stomp a path to the bike rack and enjoy being tired from yesterday's 25-miles-PLUS-the-indoor-time-trial honest-to-goodness workout. The time trial wasn't the best 'cause I missed a week for a conference and last week *totally* because the snow canceled the inside training rides, too. But... it was *riding,* so it was good

    Talking yes!

After attacking an ice dam on our roof, we took a 17 miler on the road.

It has been a beast this winter for us. It is only my second ride in 2007. Felt great. Very little wind, 43degrees, sun and the time to ride.

I have a hard time believing it too. I wasn't going to ride - I thought it was too cold. In fact, I went out walking for an hour, and when I was still warm when I got home I thought I heard my bicycle calling to me. So I figured it was time to ride (and it was)!

But I do hope that the prediction of warmth to come is correct.

It was gusty and windy here in NW Oregon, so I rode the trainer in the garage with hubby (heck...it's the only time I can keep up with him!).

I rode for 1 hour, averaging 16.5 mph. I took the last 15 minutes at a lower gear, so I felt good!

I rode the trainer for my day off...it also was snowing and somewhat breezy...unfortunately, I then went and filled a bird feeder hanging under my front porch...and I fell off the front porch and now I am home with what seems to be a sprained ankle . I am so upset with myself. All I can think about is HOW LONG WILL I BE OFF MY BIKE ...I am staying home from work today, but it hurts to walk....

Oddly enough, my school was open yesterday. I have no classes on Mondays, but I had other work to do. So...no ride during the day, but after work, I went to the evening spinning class.
