    Unhappy

Kind of a mixed feeling ride today. I recently converted my Bianchi Limited to as close to a CX bike as possible, and today took her for a trek thru some local hilly mtb paths, just to see how she does off-road. The lovely paths I rode last summer are gone. The hills are more-or-less still there, but nearly the entire area has been deforested, plowed under, and new *&#$@*&(* condos sprouting up everywhere. Many dozens of kilometers of beautiful forest are gone forever. I just feel really sad about this.
OTOH, I did manage 28km of mixed off-road, trail/path, and road riding elsewhere, where the grubby developers haven't attacked. Yet. Bike handled excellently, weather balmy, nice ride, but still bummed at how much woodland is being razed for subdivisions around here.
    All vintage, all the time.

I'm off the mountain bike for the rest of the year, and I'm using the road bike only on the trainer, but my husband and I took the single speeds out for a ride this morning. I thought we'd get caught in the rain but the weather stayed beautiful. My legs still seem a little weak to me but I was able to keep up even after I added a load of groceries.

DH and I did 25 miles. I had everything working against me: it is cold, no sunshine, my left eye is burning and my sinuses are so congested I feel like a bowling ball is resting on my head. BUT I wanted to ride and I am so glad I did. I worked hard, my sinuses are clear for the moment and my muscles ache in a good way. Only 40 miles this weekend, but I worked hard on them.

We did a short ride today on the Bike Fridays! Victor has been able to ride his quite a bit, but my rides have been more limited. It was my first ride with the new seatpost (even more set back), and I think we've finally got the fit nailed!

I'm ready for spring! We've had no real snow - just really cold weather. If it isn't gonna snow, I'd rather it be warm

At least the days are starting to get noticeably longer!

That's great news, CA! Glad you got out. We hiked 8 miles today at the Eno. Too chilly for me to ride, but it was a gorgeous day. So glad your Fridays are going to work for you after all!

After I got off work today I remarked that if this that and the other excuse I'd take a bike ride. DH called my bluff so we went out on our bikes to dinner.

40 degrees or so, and with the moon/street lights reflecting off the underside of the clouds it was bright as day as we were riding home. It was a lovely ride. I didn't want it to end.

Turned out to be a glorious sunny day despite the rain in the early morning. And finally temperatures had warmed up a bit. With the sunshine it felt very warm so I had no trouble keeping my toes happy this time. Headed north until it was time to turn around and come home. Did 50 miles in total. On track for my training schedule for the AidsRide in June. I now have three months to double that distance.
