Thumbs up IMAZ 07, this is how I roll......

    Hey there!
Another week in the books! Hope you all had a fab week! Mine was crazy busy as usual. And it all culminated with a strong 70/10 ride/run brick today.
    Good sweaty fun!!
some musings from this week include me remembering about the amount of LAUNDRY that training for an ironman creates! My laundry room has lycra hanging from every possible place.
Also another unpleasant side effect of hard training.... INSOMNIA!! ugh!!
I swear I wake up at 2:45 and 4:30 without fail. OY!!
Another new wrinkle this year is that I'm working again. Last year I could get my weekday miles in while Spencer was in school. This year I have to do an hour in the morning and an hour at night. I do go in late on Tues and Thurs so I can get 2 hours in the morning, but I seem to be spinning on the trainer while I help with homework!! It also doesn't help that my husband has been travelling A LOT for work, so I'm pretty much functioning as a single mom.
For example, her was my tuesday:
Get up at 6:00- get spencer ready for school
as soon as spencer gets off to school go run for 45 minutes
literally throw together a lunch and grab work clothes and swim stuff and get out the door in ten minutes flat
    swim for a half hour
shower at light speed so you can get to work
    work for 6.5 hours
    drive home
make quick dinner, help with homework while we eat
let tummy settle for a half hour then hop on trainer for an hour
help with division homework that spencer is struggling with while spinning
Get off trainer and attempt to spend some quality moments with spencer before bed.
    get him into bed
collapse in a heap on the couch....
So there you are girls, that's how *I* roll........

So yeah, when I say it's been NUTS in the Amos house, I'm not kidding!! OY VEY!!!
But hey, only NINE weeks to taper!! So this is prime time for me to get my arse ready. Eyes on the prize.
So here is an exerpt from the training log this week:

28-Jan am 1500 mtr swim 40 min, pm run 4 miles (44 min)
    29-Jan Pilates 1 hr
30-Jan am 1000 mtr swim 27 min, pm ride 1 hour good spin, am run 4 mi 45 min raining
31-Jan pm Ride1 hour hard spin/3 mi run (brick) raining
1-Feb am Swim 2250 mtr 1 hr, pm ride 1 hr fighting wind/cold 15 mi
    2-Feb **off**** ******* ******** *** *****
    3-Feb Ride 70 mi 4:33 aver 15.4 mph/ 10 mi run brick-no walking! 1:54

So as you can see it was another solid week. My diet has been spot on so I'm dropping some lb's!! YAY!! I think the clean diet has helped my training. A happy body performs better! Oh- and I discovered Quinoa!! What a super food THAT is!! If you've never tried it I suggest you check it out. Very good AND good for you!!
Ok ladies (and mr silver) I'm off to stretch out my parts. I'm feeling tight.
Y'all have a GREAT week!!!! And remember- you can't always CHOOSE what happens to you, but you CAN choose how you react to it!!!
    Ciao bellas!
    Denise
P.S> one last thing... My theme song for my long one today was the
B52's "private Idaho"... I heard that right before I took off on my ride and I just kept singing it ALL day!!!
"Im livin in my own private idaho, livin in my own private idaho" over and over again.....

Hey RM, I hear ya on the heavy duty lycra laundry, black spandex hanging everywhere!! It was so bad last week that DH stated to complain that he couldn't get into his closet and shest because of all my stuff hanging all over.

I had a rest week. Very mellow. I do some test sets on my rest week and those came out really well.

The pounds aren't really coming off for me yet. I can't wait to start those looooonnnng bike rides.

Great Job for you this week!!!

I am cracking up about the lycra...we have lycra X2, because the DH is training with me...and he is a big guy, 6'6", 220 lbs...so it is BIG lycra.

And oh so many gloves and hats and socks and liners of all weights and shapes and sizes to keep track of!

    keep up the good work.

Great job on the training and being a "single" Mom. Sounds like you are REALLY working very hard... and it will all pay off!

Great week RM!!!! You're putting in some serious time in training! It IS hard to work and IM train. Luckily last summer I took off (I teach, and usually have to work all summer), so for June and July the training went well, it was when I was teaching (April, May, August and September) that the training slacked some because I just didn't have time.

You'll get it done- losing weight (woo hoo), training, working and being a single mom!!! You rock!!!

Please keep us updated- I love to live vicariously through you!!!
And more pictures, please. I love to see that desert landscape.

    darwin indeed!!!

I had to chuckle that it happened in a place called "darwin". Spencer and I call non helmet wearing bike riders "future darwin award winners"

WOW! Well, one thing we do get here on occaision is the errant rattle snake in the pool. And they can strike in the water. But I couln't imagine not noticing that before you got in!!

    Anyhoo- YIPES!!

    D-

Oh- I did notice it said there was flooding in north australia?? All I hear on the american news is how much of a drought you are all in. Is the north hogging the rain?

    rm

RM-yes, the northern hemisphere is hogging the rain.

However, Light';s relatives in northern Queensland were affected by a major flood .

If you see any rain, send it our way.

It's called a zipper drill because you move your arm like you're doing up or undoing a zipper at the side of your torso.

Hey CC. Did the crock stay in it's own lane? I hate it when interlopers don't follow proper lane etiquette.

    ah

Sorry for drifting your thread RM..

Wahine-that's the one & I can never get it right. I rely on my finz to keep me afloat. It's that or me struggle down the lane & look like a drowning dog

Umm..I think the croc had the whole pool to itself...It was a wee one so it would only nibble a little bit..
